Chapter 1249 - 64: Evil Spirit
Chapter 1249 - 64: Evil Spirit
Bologue had to admit, the Ruins District was an utterly wondrous place, like a bizarre and colorful dream, where it seemed anything could happen to you.The girl, like a little thief, let out an uncontrolled scream upon seeing Bologue, and immediately she started sprinting down the stairs. As she fled for her life, she did not forget the supplies she carried, but the violent shaking caused the things in her arms to keep falling out.
She was like a car on the verge of breaking down, losing parts as it drove.
"Damn it, what is going on!" she muttered under her breath, "How could the staff even invade here!"
The sound of a rushing airstream came from afar, Bologue leapt off the stairs, casting out strands of the Silver Hand, ignoring the complicated gravitational directions here, and headed straight for the little thief.
Sensing the intense Ether reaction on Bologue, a sense of despair rose in her heart.
A Negative Power User, it was actually a staff member of Negative Power User strength.
The little thief realized she probably couldn’t escape. Like a lantern carousel, her mind swiftly replayed the experiences she had over the years, from the initial excitement of her internship to the unexpected incidents, falling into this chaotic space, and struggling for survival here.
Thinking about how she managed to live in this ghostly place for so long, she felt a bit proud, but at the same time, the hardships of surviving in solitude could finally end this day.
The fatigue finally caught up with her, causing her to slow her steps, thinking it wouldn’t be so bad to collapse here, and she gradually came to a stop.
Bologue was getting closer and closer, the pressure from the Ether grew heavier, her heart pounded forcefully, the thumping echoed in her mind continuously.
"How could I possibly give up!"
She exclaimed, and just as Bologue was about to catch her, she once again started running.
No matter how tired, lonely, and desperate she was, the instinctual desire to survive drove her legs to stride forward vigorously.
At this moment she demonstrated immense professionalism, clutching a bag in one hand and throwing a grappling hook with the other, directly latching onto the distant stairs, she leaped into the void, swinging across drastically.
Just when she thought she had temporarily shaken off Bologue, the Rhombus Shield intercepted her from the front, like a pack of wolves, hovering and surrounding her.
The Ether’s faint glow reflected in her eyes, without hesitation, she unleashed her Secret Energy. Though she was only a First Stage Condenser, she wasn’t going to die without a fight.
Before the Secret Energy could be released, the Rhombus Shield rapidly closed in, like speeding blades, the power of the Negative Power User was too formidable, leaving her no chance to counterattack. She closed her eyes in despair, imagining herself being sliced into pieces.
That scene did not come to pass.
The Rhombus Shield turned into liquid mercury in the air, swiftly climbing onto her body, devouring her entire lower half, then solidified into an iron cast foundation.
She was like being poured with a cement pile, most of her body was solidified within the iron block, only leaving the area above her chest unsealed.
"Finally caught you."
Bologue flexed his shoulders, she had run surprisingly fast, as if she put all her skill points into running away.
The solidified iron block floated mid-air, Bologue waved his hand, under his Command, the iron block retracted back to Bologue’s side, the closer Bologue got, the more distinct and weighty the murderous aura around him became.
A layer of mist welled up in her eyes, she was on the verge of tears.
"Ah!"
The little thief unconsciously shook her head and screamed, she was just too noisy, Bologue commanded the mercury to seal her mouth shut.
"Ha...what’s wrong with you?"
Bologue sighed deeply, scrutinizing the person in front of him.
She didn’t look very old, probably in her early twenties, wearing an Order Bureau uniform, carrying bags both large and small on her back.
Bologue immediately suspected she was an unfortunate soul who had strayed into here, but it was puzzling, the Order Bureau had long abandoned the Ruins District, how did she enter here? Even if she stumbled into this place, with her Condenser abilities, survival would be challenging.
More importantly, why was she so resistant to him, even treating him as an enemy?
In this ghostly place, seeing someone with a human face, even Bologue was on the verge of tears, yet she was in a panic.
"I’ll ask, you answer, understand?"
Bologue could preliminarily determine she was purely unlucky, not disguised as a monster.
She didn’t respond, only continued to struggle.
Bologue sighed, drew out the Pitch Black Sword, the cold killing intent brushed against her face, bringing a needle-like pain.
She stopped struggling, her eyes flicked up and down.
Bologue said again, "I’ll release you, but don’t scream, okay?"
This time she gave a similar reaction.
The ether surged, mercury disrupted, she gasped heavily a few times, then took a sharp breath. Just as she instinctively wanted to scream again, the pitch-black resentful bite lightly touched her neck, sending an icy chill from the edge, as if ice was pressed against her forehead, instantly clearing her consciousness.
She held her breath and nodded with difficulty.
Bologue asked, "Good, first, what is your name?"
"Furya."
Furya answered softly, her voice trembling as if she was about to cry.
"Who are you? I mean, why are you here?"
Furya’s answer did not satisfy Bologue, "Me? I’ve always been here."
Bologue paused for a moment, opened the bag Furya was holding, which only contained canned food. He opened her backpack, filled with medicines and fuel, all daily essentials.
"Always been here, were you trapped here?" Bologue asked.
"What else!" Furya shouted, "You monsters made a mess here."
Bologue realized something was off, he asked differently, "Furya, initially, how did you get here? You know, at the beginning, this place wasn’t distorted like this."
This little thief was clearly not mentally right, Bologue didn’t press her too hard, continuing to guide.
"This place used to be part of the Order Bureau, were you a member of the expedition team?"
Bologue suspected the thief in front of him was part of the expedition team but lost contact for some reason, and the team believed Furya was dead.
But she was not dead, instead, she resiliently survived in this cursed place.
Furya was stunned, the term Order Bureau seemed to stir her memory, her tense alertness relaxed somewhat.
Bologue continued to soothe, "Tell me, what have you been through?"
"I... I’m Furya, I am an intern at the Order Bureau."
Furya’s words were stammering, as if she hadn’t communicated with anyone for years, her sentences appeared particularly sluggish.
"One day, someone invaded the Cultivation Room, and then... then everything changed, monsters were everywhere."
Her words were fragmented, lacking certain logic, but Bologue still gleaned a startling piece of information from these bits.
Furya wasn’t an expedition team member lost, she probably was an employee lost in the Ruins District during the secret war.
My god, she actually lived alone in this hellish place for so long.
Bologue was shocked, feeling deep regret, "Sorry, I was a bit rude to you."
He reached out a hand, trying to soothe her, and dissolve the condensing mercury, yet Furya, filled with fear of Bologue’s hand, as though he appeared to her as some terrifying monster.
Bologue suddenly thought of something, that after the secret war, before the Ruins District completely fell into chaos, the Order Bureau organized several rescue missions to save employees lost inside. If Furya was an employee lost during the secret war, she should’ve been rescued.
Unless she deliberately hid, but why would she hide?
Others might not guess the answer, but after experiencing the prior events, Bologue already realized the root of the issue.
"Furya, don’t worry, listen to me."
Bologue took a deep breath, "In your eyes, what exactly do I look like?"
Furya’s body resisted, puzzled at Bologue’s question, but recalling Bologue’s lethal pitch-black sword, she was forced to respond honestly.
"In my eyes..."
Furya mustered courage, facing Bologue in front of her.
Bologue’s figure reflected into Furya’s eyes, but what was revealed was not a slightly cold blue-eyed man.
It was an entirely different image.
He had a tall and twisted form, surrounded by dark shadows, his face carried a phantom-like double image, like numerous ghostly faces overlapping each other, they moaned, screamed, as if suffering some inhuman torment, wanting to escape this body, yet bound tightly by invisible chains.
"Evil Spirit..."
Why would Bologue ask such a question, didn’t he know what he looked like? Furya couldn’t understand, but she still honestly answered Bologue’s question.
"You’re an Evil Spirit."
