Chapter 464: Su Qing With No Emotional Fluctuations

Chapter 464: Su Qing With No Emotional Fluctuations

"May Remembrance" was considered the Student Union's final event of the semester. Although it was ostensibly held in honor of the graduating seniors, the performances were primarily put on by the freshmen and sophomores. For galas like this, the sophomores had long since lost interest. Only some of the freshmen still took it seriously, as it marked a moment of transition between the old and the new.

The Student Union elections had already concluded, and Chen Wan had lived up to everyone's expectations by becoming the Student Union president.

There were three vice presidents.

Originally, Su Qing was a surefire candidate, but beyond everyone's expectation, she had actually withdrawn from the election.

Instead, Shen Yu emerged as a dark horse, successfully being elected as one of the new vice presidents to everyone's satisfaction.

Of the remaining two vice presidents, one was a girl from the School of Humanities. She was a great beauty with long, straight black hair, but because the School of Humanities was a very small branch within the university, she was relatively unknown.

The other was the only male in this term's Student Union leadership—Zhou Yuwen, who was rarely ever seen at the Student Union.

In truth, when Zhou Yuwen received the notice requiring him to participate in the vice presidential election, he was quite surprised. However, rumor had it that this was the intention of the school leaders.

Since Zhou Yuwen had already earned the title of one of the Jinling Top Ten Outstanding Young People outside of campus, it was only a matter of course for him to enter the organization following standard procedures. Moreover, there was an official organization in Jinling composed of university students from across the city, and given Zhou Yuwen's current achievements, he was required to take up a position there as well.

To be honest, the minimum threshold for youths holding positions in this organization was attending Project 985 or Project 211 universities. Students from a third-rate school like Zhou Yuwen's wouldn't normally even get a foot in the door. Yet, Zhou Yuwen had become a prime example and needed to hold a nominal position there, so the school naturally hoped his reputation on campus would look a bit more prestigious.

Fortunately, Zhou Yuwen was technically already a member of the Student Union, so he ended up participating in the election in this baffling manner.

Initially, there were thoughts of utilizing behind-the-scenes manipulation, but no one expected Zhou Yuwen's reputation at school to be as good as it was. Even though he had never really participated in any Student Union work, the vast majority of people cast their votes for him.

Zhou Yuwen actually ended up receiving the highest number of votes among the vice presidential candidates and was successfully elected.

Of course, Zhou Yuwen remained just as he was before, practically never showing up at the Student Union.

Nowadays, he had an endless stream of city meetings to attend every day. How could he possibly have the time or energy to manage a small, insignificant Student Union?

To tell the truth, over the past year, between the tax revenue Zhou Yuwen had generated for Jinling and the fixed income from his writing, along with serving as a mascot for a few official organizations—where just attending meetings netted him over ten thousand yuan a month—and occasionally giving lectures to his peers, it felt like if Zhou Yuwen wasn't ambitious, he could completely choose to lie flat.

Unlike Zhou Yuwen, the other vice presidents were incredibly busy.

This was especially true for Shen Yu. Many people gossiped behind her back, claiming she only had good luck to take over Su Qing's spot. This put immense pressure on Shen Yu, making her want to perform exceptionally well during this upcoming gala.

Zheng Yanyan, unsurprisingly, became the minister of the Arts Department. She didn't even have to go through the process of being a vice minister first. The few junior girls in the Arts Department were too busy trying to flatter Zheng Yanyan every day to dare manage her. The moment the election was mentioned, someone suggested that Yan Yan should just be made minister directly.

Then, a whole group of people chimed in to sing her praises.

Zheng Yanyan repeatedly declined at first, only reluctantly agreeing when she realized she truly couldn't push it away.

Upon taking office, she promptly promoted Lu Lin to vice minister.

Thus, the university's Arts Department truly became Zhou Yuwen's harem. The girls in it all joined Zhou Yuwen's company, becoming contracted artists who went out to work part-time making money every weekend.

In the afternoon, several of the girls were all in the auditorium rehearsing their performances.

Zhou Yuwen dropped by around three o'clock.

At the time, Zheng Yanyan was holding her phone, continuously recording the girls rehearsing on stage. Zhou Yuwen wrapped his arms around her shoulders from behind. Zheng Yanyan was startled at first, but upon turning her head and seeing Zhou Yuwen, she was instantly overjoyed. She threw her arms around his neck and called out, "Hubby!"

Zheng Yanyan's voice wasn't quiet. People scattered around the auditorium couldn't help but look up. Seeing it was Zhou Yuwen, they didn't think much of it and simply lowered their heads to continue their work.

The relationship between Zheng Yanyan and Zhou Yuwen was no secret. However, recalling the news reports that stated Zhou Yuwen was dating Jiang Xinyi, it was rare to actually see them together.

Furthermore, in recent reports, Jiang Xinyi had disappeared for no apparent reason.

Did this mean he had gotten back together with Zheng Yanyan?

Zheng Yanyan couldn't care less about what others thought. She happily clung to Zhou Yuwen's arm, grinning as she asked why he was here.

"Did you miss me!?" No matter the situation, Zheng Yanyan always appeared so optimistic and cheerful.

Zhou Yuwen explained that he had come to the school to handle some business, and upon hearing they were rehearsing, decided to drop by and check on them.

After saying this, Zhou Yuwen turned his head and glanced at Su Qing, who was still over there supervising the rehearsal.

Su Qing didn't look at Zhou Yuwen, but she felt his gaze.

As if intentionally avoiding him, she took light, graceful steps toward the auditorium's backstage.

Zhou Yuwen watched her retreating back, feeling helpless. He claimed he came to see Zheng Yanyan and the others, but in reality, his main reason was to see Su Qing.

It had been a while since Zhou Yuwen last saw Su Qing. Over their messaging app, he had chatted with her about the progress of her study abroad plans, asking which school she wanted to attend in America.

Yet Su Qing's responses were always completely indifferent, usually just a simple "Mhm."

Or "Okay."

There wasn't a huge problem with these answers, but given that they were like an old couple, this sudden shift left Zhou Yuwen feeling a bit unaccustomed.

"What are you looking at!"

Zheng Yanyan, still wrapped in Zhou Yuwen's embrace, felt a bit jealous. She cupped his face, forcing him to look at her.

Although she had resolved her conflict with Su Qing, in front of Zhou Yuwen, she still hoped he would look at her more. This was an innate female rivalry that couldn't be changed.

Zhou Yuwen smiled. "I wasn't looking at anything. Aren't I looking at you right now?"

"Hmph, liar." Zheng Yanyan didn't buy it. She laughed, "Are you regretting it now? You didn't know how to cherish her when you had her, and now that Su Qing is ignoring you, you feel regret, don't you? Just wait until the day I act like Su Qing too, we'll see if you regret it then. Ouch!"

Before Zheng Yanyan could finish, Zhou Yuwen reached down and pinched her perky buttocks, making her cry out in pain. Zhou Yuwen told her to stop talking nonsense.

"Your older sister Qing is enough to give me a headache. If you start acting up too, none of us will be able to live in peace," Zhou Yuwen complained.

Zheng Yanyan snorted. "Which is why you need to treat Linlin and me better."

Zhou Yuwen pressed his head against her forehead. "Am I not treating you well enough already?"

Just as the two were acting intimately, behaving as if there was no one else present.

"Ahem!" Shen Yu, standing off to the side, finally couldn't hold back a couple of coughs. It was only then that Zhou Yuwen noticed her, while Zheng Yanyan asked in confusion, "Huh? Shen Yu, why are you still here?"

"."

'If I'm not here, where else would I be?' Shen Yu thought to herself.

'What kind of question is that...'

Fortunately, Zhou Yuwen interjected in time, smiling as he said, "President Shen, I haven't even had the chance to congratulate you yet."

"Congratulations to you too, President Zhou," Shen Yu replied, picking up on his banter with a slight smile.

By now, Shen Yu had figured out most of Zhou Yuwen's secrets. In some respects, Zhou Yuwen was indeed a scummy man. But no matter how scummy he was, it had nothing to do with her.

Besides, being in the Student Union together, they saw each other constantly. How others chose to live was their own business. Shen Yu felt that as long as she stayed true to herself, it was fine. However, the current Shen Yu probably no longer entertained any thoughts of fantasizing about Zhou Yuwen as a boyfriend.

Zhou Yuwen said she was flattering him. "My vice president title was entirely forced onto me by others. It's going to be tough on you guys having to share my workload," he said sincerely.

Shen Yu said it didn't really matter; the Student Union always had one or two special cases every year.

"By the way, looking at the news about you recently, why is Sister Xinyi rarely seen? Has she still not forgiven you?" Shen Yu asked, seemingly casually.

Before Zhou Yuwen could speak, Zheng Yanyan eagerly chimed in from the side, "She broke up with Zhou Yuwen ages ago!"

"Oh?" Shen Yu genuinely hadn't known this.

In truth, Zhou Yuwen had just mentioned it casually to Zheng Yanyan. He hadn't expected her to be so ecstatic about it that she would tell anyone she met.

"Yeah, is that so weird? She and my hubby just aren't the same kind of people anyway!" Zheng Yanyan said with a smiling wink.

"Uh."

Even though Shen Yu could accept Zhou Yuwen's persona as a scummy man, hearing Zheng Yanyan call him "hubby" in one breath while cheerfully discussing his breakup with Jiang Xinyi in the next still felt incredibly strange.

Zhou Yuwen told Zheng Yanyan to stop talking nonsense.

He then confirmed to Shen Yu that they had indeed been broken up for a while now.

Their views on things were too different, making it difficult for them to stay together.

Shen Yu nodded. 'A normal girl really would find it difficult to stay with you,' she thought.

Upon having this thought, Shen Yu couldn't help but let out a brief chuckle.

Zhou Yuwen asked her what she was laughing at.

Shen Yu quickly shook her head, smiling as she said it was nothing. She then changed the topic, "By the way, President Zhou, since you're a vice president of the Student Union now, shouldn't you put in a little effort for us too?"

Zhou Yuwen asked her what she needed.

Shen Yu blinked, smiling as she insisted he agree first.

Zhou Yuwen replied that he couldn't do that.

Shen Yu said, "For this upcoming gala, surely you can come over and sing a song, right?"

"That's no problem at all."

Zhou Yuwen had wondered what she was going to ask. It turned out it was just this. After all, the first time was strange, but the second time was familiar—it wasn't like this was his first time singing.

Moreover.

Zhou Yuwen cast a glance at Su Qing, who was on stage instructing the students on what to do.

Zhou Yuwen remembered that two days after the gala ended, Su Qing would be leaving for America.

"Uh, I was hoping you could write another original song," Shen Yu emphasized.

"That's not a problem either," Zhou Yuwen confirmed again.

Hearing this, Shen Yu finally regained a bit of a good impression toward Zhou Yuwen. Alright, he might be a bit scummy, but his talent was real. As long as she didn't view him through her criteria for choosing a spouse, having him as a simple friend was actually a pretty good choice.

So, Shen Yu hurriedly and happily began discussing some details with him, asking what style of song he planned to perform and suggesting they place him in the finale.

Zhou Yuwen told her to arrange it however she saw fit.

"Aren't you the general director for this gala? I'll follow your lead."

"Uh, so I'll schedule you for the finale?"

"Whatever works."

Having settled the matter with Zhou Yuwen, Shen Yu was overjoyed, the corners of her mouth rising uncontrollably. Earlier, when she first saw him, she had silently reminded herself to keep her distance, but now she had tossed all of that beyond the highest heavens.

And so, Zhou Yuwen chatted with Shen Yu, with Zheng Yanyan occasionally chiming in. The three of them ended up having quite a pleasant conversation.

Su Qing watched this scene from the stage but didn't say anything.

This rehearsal was scheduled to last until eight o'clock in the evening. Each act came up to the stage at their allotted time, performed, received some minor adjustments from the Student Union members regarding stage details, and could then leave early.

After Zheng Yanyan finished rehearsing with the girls from the Arts Department, she grabbed Zhou Yuwen's hand and declared they were going out for dinner.

Zhou Yuwen figured that given the current situation, Su Qing likely wouldn't go grab food with him even after the rehearsal ended.

So he left early with Zheng Yanyan.

The two of them first went to the dormitory to wake the sleeping Lu Lin, then headed out to find a restaurant.

Lu Lin emerged from the dormitory looking half-asleep. Bleary-eyed, she wore a coffee-colored undershirt paired with black denim flare pants. The very first thing she asked upon walking out was, "What are we eating?"

Zhou Yuwen looked at the naive and foolish lass and remarked, "How is it that all you ever know is eating?"

Lu Lin, however, felt proud of something she should be ashamed of. She haughtily tipped up her little nose like a true tsundere, spotted the small candy dates Zheng Yanyan had previously left in the car, picked them up, tore them open, and started snacking.

Zheng Yanyan told Zhou Yuwen, "Hubby, don't be fooled by how much Linlin eats every day. She genuinely doesn't gain an ounce! Over the past two months, I've gained two pounds, but she honestly hasn't gained any weight at all."

Zheng Yanyan began to chatter endlessly, complaining that she was nearing 110 pounds now, while Linlin had stayed consistently at 97 pounds.

"I'm a whole thirteen pounds heavier than her!"

Zhou Yuwen commented that their body types were roughly the same.

"I'd actually prefer it if she gained a little meat."

As he spoke, Zhou Yuwen shot a glance at the padded area beneath Lu Lin's undershirt.

Hearing this, Zheng Yanyan immediately erupted into giggles.

Lu Lin, on the other hand, was quite indignant, pointing out, "Hers aren't that much bigger than mine, okay?"

The three of them were practically an old couple by now. They found a place to eat a simple meal, and soon the sky turned dark.

By the time Su Qing and Shen Yu finished their work in the auditorium, grabbed dinner together, and returned to the dormitory to gather their toiletries for a shower, Shen Yu looked at the empty room and sighed. "Looks like they aren't coming back tonight either," she remarked.

After saying this, she cast a glance at Su Qing.

Yet Su Qing remained calm and unflustered, simply continuing to pack her toiletries.

It seemed that now, absolutely nothing concerning Zhou Yuwen could affect her anymore.

Just as Shen Yu had predicted, Zhou Yuwen, Zheng Yanyan, and Lu Lin were gearing up for a wild night. However, what no one anticipated was that right when Zhou Yuwen had the two lasses in tow and was considering trying something new...

Jiang Xinyi, who hadn't contacted him in a long time, unexpectedly showed up directly at his house.

Now, Zhou Yuwen was in an awkward spot.
