Chapter 406: Sister Hui, Give Me One More Chance!

Zhou Yuwen whispered a few instructions to Jiang Xinyi. She was undoubtedly on the same page as him. She had long felt that Lu Hui's work efficiency was far too slow. If it had not been for Liu Shuo, Lu Hui would have been fired ages ago; there was no way she would have lasted this long.Well, that was that. Lu Hui had completely destroyed her only talisman.

Firing her was a matter of course, but since she had a formal contract, they still needed to find a proper excuse to let her go.

Just as Zhou Yuwen was holding Jiang Xinyi and exchanging those few words, a knock echoed from outside the door.

As expected, Liu Jing still could not put her mind at ease knowing her daughter and Zhou Yuwen were sharing the same suite, each in a separate room. Or rather than being worried, it was more accurate to say she wanted to watch a good show.

Unfortunately for her, there was no show to watch.

After finishing his instructions, Zhou Yuwen mentioned that it was getting late and since there was nothing else to do, he would be leaving first.

Jiang Xinyi did not try to make him stay, but Liu Jing chimed in, suggesting that since it was already so late, he might as well stay overnight. After all, the house had more than enough rooms.

Zhou Yuwen simply smiled at her words. "That won't be necessary, Auntie. A friend of mine just went through a breakup, so I need to go comfort him."

"Alright then."

And so, Zhou Yuwen left Jiang Xinyi's home. He tried calling Liu Shuo but could not get through.

He then dialed Gao Yang's number instead.

The call connected this time, but the background noise on the other end was incredibly loud.

Hiding in the restroom, Gao Yang spoke to him, "Hello, Bro? What's up?"

"Where are you guys?" Zhou Yuwen asked. "Why is it so noisy?"

"I'm at a KTV with Brother Shuo," Gao Yang replied. "He insisted on coming here to sing."

Only then did Zhou Yuwen distinguish the background noise coming through Gao Yang's phone. It sounded like someone belting out the song Love Even If It Kills Me.

With that howling like ghosts and wolves, it was unmistakably Liu Shuo.

"Where exactly are you guys?" Zhou Yuwen asked.

Gao Yang gave him the name of the KTV, and Zhou Yuwen headed straight there.

When Zhou Yuwen walked in, he found Liu Shuo singing, completely bewildered and disoriented.

"Drink! Drink up!"

Liu Shuo shouted.

Aside from Gao Yang, there was another little brother—a friend they had met previously at the Xuhuai Association gathering. Additionally, three girls wearing off-the-shoulder tops and high heels were sitting there, drinking with Liu Shuo.

Liu Shuo declared, "I have plenty of money! All of you, drink!"

The stench of smoke in the room was overwhelming. Zhou Yuwen smelled it the second he walked in, frowning as he fanned the air in front of his face. He walked right over and cut off the music, finally drawing everyone's attention.

"Bro!"

Upon seeing Zhou Yuwen, Liu Shuo let out a loud wail, practically throwing himself at his friend.

"Oh, my brother!" Liu Shuo sobbed, wrapping his arms tightly around Zhou Yuwen. "Why am I so miserable?!"

"Bro, tell me, why am I so pathetic?! I treated that woman so well, how could she betray me? How could she do this to me?!"

Zhou Yuwen supported Liu Shuo and guided him back onto the sofa. "There's no need to be like this over a woman, right?"

"Especially over an older woman. Aren't you surrounded by women right now?"

As he spoke, Zhou Yuwen gestured for Liu Shuo to look at the hostesses accompanying them, but Liu Shuo just waved his hand dismissively, saying it was not the same.

"It's different, Bro!"

Poor Liu Shuo. He might not have loved Lu Hui that deeply, but she was undeniably the first woman he had genuinely cared about. In his mind, as long as he gave a woman money to spend, he was treating her well.

He had thought he had Lu Hui completely wrapped around his finger.

Never in his wildest dreams did he imagine that she would actually betray him.

Earlier, while drinking, Liu Shuo had posted an update on his Moments: Destiny pulls us apart, never to meet again. From now on, I lock my heart and cease to love.

Yet, deep down, he was still consumed by suffering.

Zhou Yuwen poured himself a glass of alcohol. He knew that trying to reason with Liu Shuo right now would be pointless. It was better to just let him drink his sorrow away for the night. Heartbreak was something everyone had to go through; with enough time, one simply got used to it.

And so, he stayed, singing and drinking with Liu Shuo well into the late hours of the night.

The hostesses could clearly tell that this group of young men had serious money. One of them leaned in and said to Liu Shuo, "A deeply devoted man like you is hard to find even with a lantern. Why be so heartbroken over just one woman?"

"Exactly! If it comes down to it, I'll be your girlfriend!" This was the most common line used by nightlife women; they said it to just about anyone.

But Liu Shuo just waved his hand, muttering, "None of you understand."

Zhou Yuwen simply sat there keeping him company, naturally opting not to say much. However, smoke and alcohol intoxicate the heart. With Liu Shuo in such misery and a room full of people puffing away on their cigarettes, Zhou Yuwen made a rare exception, lit a cigarette, and began to smoke.

By the time the early morning rolled around, past two o'clock, Zhou Yuwen suggested taking the girls out for a late-night snack.

The girls hesitated for a brief moment before all agreeing.

Later, while touching up their makeup in the restroom, they even discussed how much they should charge if Zhou Yuwen wanted to go a step further.

The consensus among them was that if it was Zhou Yuwen, doing it for free would be well worth it.

"That guy doesn't look very old, but he seems to be the boss of their group."

"Yeah, I noticed everyone treating him with complete respect."

The girls harbored high expectations that they could progress things with Zhou Yuwen after the late-night snack. Unfortunately for them, Zhou Yuwen had zero interest in taking things further.

Before stepping out of the KTV, Zhou Yuwen gave Tao Tian a phone call. He told her he had been drinking, could not drive, and asked if she could come pick him up if it was convenient.

In truth, Tao Tian had already fallen asleep by this time. When she answered the phone, her voice was thick with a sleepy voice.

But since it was Zhou Yuwen calling, Tao Tian was definitely going to come.

As for the girls who joined them for the late-night snack, they had initially been chatting happily with Zhou Yuwen at the barbecue stall. They were even vying for beauty, taking turns trying to curry favor with him.

That was, until Tao Tian arrived. The moment she showed up, these women instantly fell silent.

"You're terrible."

Zhou Yuwen chuckled softly.

They continued eating their late-night snack for another hour. Afterward, Zhou Yuwen called the hostesses aside for a private chat, asking if any of them were willing to accompany Liu Shuo.

Two of the girls refused. To be honest, even though they wanted to make money, girls working in the nightlife scene usually chose their clients based on their mood. It was honestly pointless and generally a bad idea to try and hook up with them.

The last girl hesitated for a moment before agreeing, though the price she quoted was quite steep.

Zhou Yuwen simply said that was fine.

Once everything was settled, Tao Tian drove Zhou Yuwen back to Zhonghai Garden.

Upon returning to Zhonghai Garden, Zhou Yuwen took a shower and then laid down, resting his head on Tao Tian's thighs. Tao Tian had already changed into her pajamas and began gently massaging his temples, asking, "What happened today?"

"Smoking and drinking all at once?"

Zhou Yuwen recounted the entire situation between Liu Shuo and Lu Hui.

It was the kind of juicy gossip anyone would love to hear. Tao Tian was a bit shocked, but she admitted she was not entirely surprised.

"That Lu Hui clearly wasn't a girl who could settle down peacefully. I caught her looking at you with that kind of look several times. Do you remember when President Gao treated us to dinner last time?"

Tao Tian had actually seen through everything clearly, but she had kept her mouth shut.

Now that the truth about Lu Hui had exploded into the open, Tao Tian spoke about her without any reservations. "Lu Hui was probably trying to seduce you, but since you didn't like her, she ended up hooking up with your roommate instead. Her taste in men is really terrible, though."

Zhou Yuwen listened as Tao Tian chattered away. Her thighs were quite plump, making them incredibly comfortable to use as a pillow. From his vantage point, he had a perfect view of the magnificent peaks and valleys of her chest. Zhou Yuwen remarked, "If you ever find a guy you like, tell me in advance. Don't let things turn into the mess we saw today."

Tao Tian was furious to hear this and immediately swatted him. "What kind of nonsense are you spouting?!"

Zhou Yuwen chuckled, saying the thought had just suddenly crossed his mind.

Tao Tian scoffed, "I am nothing like Lu Hui, okay?"

Perhaps worried that Zhou Yuwen might overthink things, Tao Tian made a point to explain. She insisted that the reason Lu Hui had cheated on her partner was that she had never loved Liu Shuo in the first place.

She had not gotten together with him for love, so how could it possibly have lasted?

"But I'm different. I'm only with you because I love you. How could I ever leave you?" Tao Tian cradled Zhou Yuwen's face in her hands, her voice tender and soft.

Tao Tian, with her ample breasts proudly on display, truly gave off the impression of a comforting angel.

Zhou Yuwen stroked Tao Tian's cheek. "Sweetie, it's so good to have you here."

"Hmph."

A hint of pride flickered in Tao Tian's eyes upon hearing this, and she lowered her head to kiss him.

The two began to kiss passionately, and soon after, they shifted to find a better position.

Since Zhou Yuwen had drunk some alcohol today, he could likely last a bit longer than usual.

It seemed Tao Tian was in for a grueling night once again.

By now, it was the dead of night. Most of the boys in the dormitory had already gone to sleep, but the lights in Chang Hao and his roommates' room were still on.

"Sister Hui..."

Li Qiang leaned against his bed, gripping his phone tightly as he muttered under his breath like a lunatic.

Earlier, after Zhou Yuwen, Liu Shuo, and the others had left one by one.

Lu Hui had wiped her tears. She could not afford to waste any more time here; she had to find Liu Shuo and beg for his forgiveness.

With no other options, Lu Hui decided to go to his home to explain things in person.

Seeing her preparing to leave, Li Qiang rushed forward and blocked her path. "Sister Hui, where are you going?"

"Get out of my way!" Lu Hui hissed, absolutely disgusted. At this point, she had no desire to speak a single word to Li Qiang, bluntly telling him to screw off.

Refusing to back down, Li Qiang pleaded, "Sister Hui! Liu Shuo already knows about us! There's no way he'll ever take you back! Sister Hui, just be with me. I'll take good care of you. Sister Hui, believe me, I swear I'll take care of you!"

Li Qiang's words were completely sincere. However, to Lu Hui, this man clad in brand-name clothes was nothing more than a clown. The more sincere he acted, the more repulsive she found him.

"Take care of me?" Lu Hui scoffed, feeling as though she had just heard the biggest joke in the world. She sneered, "What right do you have to say you'll take care of me? Do you have money? Are you from Jingcheng? On what grounds are you going to take care of me?"

By now, almost everyone from the themed class meeting had dispersed, though a few lingerers were still hanging around to watch the drama unfold.

Lu Hui could not even be bothered to pretend with Li Qiang anymore. She hated him to the core and only wanted to ruthlessly humiliate him so he would leave her alone.

Yet, in that moment, it was as if their thought processes operated on entirely different wavelengths.

They were fundamentally incompatible.

Lu Hui's tone had been utterly venomous.

But heavens only knew how Li Qiang interpreted her words. Staring at her with absolute seriousness, he stammered, "B-But I have a heart that truly loves you!"

"?"

Hearing this, not only Lu Hui but even the bystanders watching were left dumbfounded.

Li Qiang, however, could not care less about their reactions. He dropped to his knees right in front of Lu Hui, pointing a single finger to the sky as he made a solemn vow. "Sister Hui, be my girlfriend. I might not have money right now, but I'll work hard at making money. I swear it. I'll definitely earn enough to give you a good life. Sister Hui, please, just believe in me, okay?"
