Chapter 221 Caught Up

Chapter 221 Caught Up

At the beach, dazzling sunlight spilled onto the golden sand, and shimmering light danced on the sparkling sea.

Leon followed closely behind Asha, the bucket in his hand swaying gently with his steps.

Asha's skirt fluttered in the wind as she bent down to pick up seafood one by one, her movements practiced and elegant.

Leon's gaze followed Asha's figure closely. He knew very little about the creatures on the beach and could only silently act as a competent porter.

Every time Asha picked up a piece of seafood, he would ask curiously, "Can we eat this?"

Asha always patiently answered his questions, telling him which seafood was delicious and which creatures were best avoided.

The two walked at a certain distance, one in front of the other. A gentle sea breeze blew by, carrying the salty scent of the sea and their cheerful conversation.

Time slipped away quietly amidst their laughter, and the seafood in the bucket gradually increased.

"This should be enough, right?" Asha stopped and looked at the colorful seafood in the bucket, saying with satisfaction.

Leon nodded, looking at the setting sun on the horizon, and said, "Yes, it's getting late. When is your brother coming back?"

Asha looked up at the sky and smiled as she replied, "He should be back soon; he usually comes back around this time."

“Then let’s wait for him here,” Leon suggested, a hint of anticipation in his eyes as he looked forward to meeting her brother.

In his view, Asha and her brother were the most honest and kind-hearted people on this beach.

The two found a flat rock to sit on. Leon put the bucket aside and sat on the beach, where the waves gently lapped against the shore, making a soothing sound.

They gazed at the boundless sea, the sunset reflecting on their faces, chatting about their lives.

"Have you and your brother stayed here the whole time? Haven't you ever gone out?" Leon asked curiously.

“Yes, I have gone out. Sometimes I would go to town with my brother to sell aquatic products,” Asha replied, her voice tinged with pride, after all, it was one of her few experiences of going out.

“That’s not what I meant. What I meant was, have you thought about leaving this place and going to see more distant places?” Leon further explained.

“No, it’s great here.” Asha’s answer was simple and sincere, her eyes sparkling with love for this land.

Leon was silent for a moment. He felt that the people here probably didn't have much contact with the outside world and knew very little about it. Perhaps they would spend their lives like this on the calm seaside.

"Has anyone left here?" Leon asked again, wanting to know more.

"Yes, but none of them have ever come back after they left, and I don't know why." Asha's voice carried a hint of dejection, and her eyes seemed to be following the backs of those who had left.

Leon smiled silently, thinking to himself, "Of course, those who can leave have seen the vastness and diversity of the outside world, so why would they want to return to this small place?"

The tranquility and simplicity here may ultimately be a constraint for some who yearn for exploration.

"Is there anything you want to do? Like who you want to become? Or what would make you happier?" Leon asked softly.

“Hmm…” Asha hesitated for a moment, then looked at the distant sea with a satisfied smile on her face.

“I’m happy to come to the beach every day to collect some things. In the future, I want to be like my brother, able to go out to sea to fish on my own, support myself, and take care of this family.”

Leon shook his head helplessly. The girl in front of him seemed to regard this fishing village as her whole world. This was probably because she had never been exposed to the outside world and didn't know how many possibilities awaited her to explore.

In fact, Leon had been thinking for a long time during his silence.

He wanted to repay Asha and her brother for their unconditional kindness and help, but he didn't know a good way to express his gratitude.

After much thought, Leon gradually formed a plan in his mind.

He felt he could take Asha and her brother away from the fishing village. Although life there was peaceful and beautiful, they could access a wider world and experience different lifestyles.

Teenage girls like Asha are perfectly capable of going to college to study.

Even if it's not a magic academy, some ordinary colleges will do.

However, Leon felt it was best to discuss these matters with Asha's brother first, since it was an important decision concerning their future and there was no need to rush it.

At least for now, Leon doesn't have the ability to get them out of the fishing village immediately; he needs time to prepare and make arrangements.

Just as Leon was deep in thought, Asha suddenly stood up excitedly, waving her arms toward the sea with a joyful smile on her face.

Leon was also affected by her emotions and followed her gaze.

In the afterglow of the setting sun, a small fishing boat was slowly sailing towards the shore.

There was a blurry figure on the fishing boat, but due to the contrast of light, Leon could not clearly make out the person's face.

But Asha had clearly confirmed that the man was her brother, and she excitedly ran towards him, with Leon following closely behind.

However, at that moment, a sudden change occurred. The once calm sea surface seemed to be disturbed by some enormous force, and began to rise and fall violently.

The waves rolled and surged toward the shore, as if to devour everything.

The small boat, which had been sailing steadily, was suddenly tossed up by a huge wave and began to rock violently.

Leon and Asha both stopped in their tracks, staring in disbelief at the scene before them.

The waves at sea grew larger and larger, and the small boat appeared and disappeared in the waves, as if it might be swallowed up by the giant waves at any moment.

As Asha looked at the situation on the sea, her heart leaped into her throat, her heart filled with anxiety and fear.

Disregarding her own safety, she ran towards that direction shouting urgently as she ran.

"Watch out!" Asha's voice echoed in the sea breeze, but Alk, in the distance, seemed not to have heard her warning.

Suddenly, a huge shadow rose from the sea behind the fishing boat, blocking out the setting sun and casting a dark shadow.

Alk had just seen his sister waving at him, and he was excitedly waving back.

But suddenly, a bad feeling crept into his heart, and then the surrounding light dimmed instantly, and a chill ran down his spine.

Alk stared blankly behind him and saw a giant octopus, several meters tall, rising up behind him. Its enormous head seemed to blot out the sky, and its eight huge tentacles, like dark clouds, pounded the waves and attacked the fishing boat.

His eyes widened in disbelief at the sight before him.

Alk's brain short-circuited for a moment; he felt he was doomed, that there was no chance of survival against such a creature.

His hands gripped the rudder tightly, but his efforts seemed so insignificant in the face of such a massive sea creature.

Each of the giant octopus's tentacles was enough to easily capsize his fishing boat, and he seemed powerless to do anything but watch in horror as it all unfolded.

In the past, no fishing boat that encountered this terrifying creature has ever returned alive.

These stories circulated in the village and became taboo among the fishermen, who all prayed that they would not suffer such a fate.

This time, Alk never expected such a nightmare to befall him; his heart was pounding so hard it felt like it was going to jump out of his chest.

What puzzled him was why this giant octopus, which usually inhabits the deep sea, would appear in coastal waters, especially so close to the shore.

The moment Asha saw the giant octopus, tears welled up in her eyes, and she let out a desperate cry. However, the giant octopus did not stop moving because of her cries.

It seemed determined to get its prey on the fishing boat, its eight enormous claws creating towering waves on the sea.

She watched in despair as the octopus raised its tentacles high and then attacked the small fishing boat with overwhelming force.

Al-K was on the ship, having prepared for the worst. A hint of relief and helplessness flashed in his eyes.

However, at this critical moment, a sudden chill came from behind Asha and then spread rapidly towards the sea.

This aura spread rapidly along the coast, and the seawater that was constantly lapping against the shore seemed to freeze in an instant, ceasing all movement.

However, the power of the ice did not stop its spread; it continued to advance at a visible speed, eventually reaching the vicinity of the fishing boat.

The giant claw, which was about to fall, suddenly froze in mid-air, as if time had been frozen, and the entire body of the giant octopus was frozen on the sea surface in that instant.

Alk sat on the boat, stunned, his eyes wide open, almost unable to believe his luck.

He had almost perished at sea, becoming prey for this giant octopus, but now he was unharmed, only stunned by the scene before him.

On the shore, Asha also watched this shocking scene, and a very unrealistic idea popped into her mind.

She turned her head blankly, her gaze falling on Leon, who had just been chatting and laughing with her.

At this moment, Leon raised his right hand forward, exhaling cold air from his mouth.

"We made it in time."

Leon let out a long sigh of relief. His physical strength and magic had not fully recovered. In the instant when the danger struck, he even thought he would not be able to make it to the rescue.
