Chapter 611 World 69
Chapter 611 World 69
Just as striking as his sea-blue hair was his face, half of which was covered in scales and the other half was eerily beautiful.
“Hiss,” Catherine gripped Stella’s hand, speechless for a moment.
Stella easily recognized his race: "A siren?"
"A siren?" Catherine looked up curiously again.
The siren spoke coldly: "I didn't expect that there would be someone with eyesight in such a small team."
His voice was very pleasant, like metal striking jade, which fits people's stereotypical impression that siren voices are pleasant.
But what she said wasn't very pleasant, and Catherine wasn't going to put up with him. She turned to Stella and said, "Isn't it said that sirens are beautiful and can lure sailors so much that they lose their way and end up drowning at sea?"
"I admit that half of his face is quite good-looking, but the other half is completely unacceptable. Do siren sirens never show their faces?"
Then, she pretended to suddenly realize something: "No wonder the sirens are known for their singing; they can only bewitch people with their songs."
The more she spoke, the darker the siren's face became on the ice block, until finally it turned as black as the bottom of a pot.
If looks could kill, Catherine would probably have been killed by the siren's blade many times over.
Stella couldn't help but laugh, cleared her throat, and still accidentally let a little bit slip out while she was speaking.
"Sirens are indeed beautiful, but their beauty can only be fully displayed when they are in the sea. On land, siren are not as beautiful, and may even show some characteristics of marine creatures."
"Therefore, sirens do not like to leave the sea."
Catherine said thoughtfully, "I remember that in the portraits left by our ancestors, mermaids didn't have these features."
“Because mermaids are the sea god’s servants,” Stella paused, glancing at the siren who was staring at her sharply, but continued unfazed, “but the siren is no longer the sea god’s beloved creation.”
Catherine nodded knowingly and asked the siren, "Who are you? What are you doing here? Who sent you?"
The siren didn't answer any of the three questions.
Catherine raised an eyebrow: "Don't want to answer? Then you can stay up there."
"Ah, I believe you have already tried with your weapon, neither this net nor the ice covered by it can be easily destroyed by you."
"It's still early, we can catch up on some more sleep, Stella, what do you think?"
“Of course,” Stella agreed immediately. “If I don’t sleep well tonight, I’ll definitely be tired tomorrow.”
Stella yawned and lay back down on the recliner.
Everything returned to calm, except for a stern-faced siren standing on the ice.
Although she was stuck and unable to escape on her own, the siren still had one mouth that wasn't plugged.
As everyone fell back asleep and the sun rose from the horizon, the siren opened her mouth and began to sing.
There was no music, but his voice was full of allure and seduction. The guards standing by quickly became bewildered, their eyes filled with longing and affection as they looked at the siren.
The head guard was more resistant. He patted the guard next to him, and when he didn't react, he immediately thought of waking Catherine up.
Fortunately, although Catherine did fall asleep, it was only a light sleep.
She vaguely heard singing and thought it sounded nice, but was startled awake by the head guard's shout.
Catherine immediately used earth magic to plug the mouth of the immobile siren, trying to stop him from singing.
To her surprise, the siren was able to continue controlling the guards with just a few groans.
"Stella, Stella."
Stella was not seduced by the song, nor did she find anything special about it. Apart from having lived among the mermaids for quite some time, she possessed many qualities that helped her remain calm.
"What's wrong, Katherine?"
After saying this, she saw the situation in front of her and understood the situation without Catherine needing to explain anything further.
“They have been bewitched by the siren. If the siren doesn’t give up, you can pour a few buckets of ice water over their heads.”
Stella gave a malicious smile: "When their minds are not clear, just help them clear them up. As for the aftereffects, if their physical condition is not good, they may get sick easily."
“Ah, that’s alright,” Catherine said, having found a solution. Without Stella having to lift a finger, she enthusiastically and personally woke up the guards who had approached the ice block.
Once they were fully awake, the guards all lowered their heads in shame and begged Catherine for forgiveness.
Catherine didn't punish them: "The siren is trying to lure you with her song, and you can't resist it in your current state. Go back and change your clothes."
The guards breathed a sigh of relief, but did not leave immediately. Instead, one of them called for the next group to take over before returning.
Stella, upon seeing this, whispered a compliment: "Your guards are very responsible."
Catherine, who had been a little annoyed, had completely forgotten what had just happened: "Yes, they are very good."
Catherine praised them a few more times, which made the guards who came to relieve them stand tall with pride and joy on their faces.
The siren's plan failed, and her mouth was stuffed with dirt. She couldn't get it out no matter how much she spat, and she couldn't rinse her mouth either, so she became completely depressed.
Because she was worried, Catherine didn't plan to go back to sleep and chatted quietly with Stella, who had also woken up.
Upon seeing this, Catherine whispered to her, "Weren't sirens originally from the mermaid race? I heard that sirens are even stronger than mermaids, so why does this sirens look so dumb?"
“He’s stuck in your net and can’t move,” Stella replied. “If you didn’t have this net, the ice underneath definitely wouldn’t have been able to stop him.”
“He turned around and released those tireless men, whether they turned around and continued to fight us or ran away on their own.”
"And you forgot, his singing voice can control quite a few people."
Ultimately, it was Catherine's skillful use of her network that made the difference; otherwise, the night would have been far more chaotic.
Catherine stuck out her tongue: "I got carried away."
"This net was found in the storeroom when I was a child and I wanted to go fishing. I heard it was a magical artifact left by our ancestors."
"Later I discovered that it's not just for catching fish. As long as you use the magic incantation, it can also be used to catch other things, so you don't have to worry about your prey escaping."
"So I brought it with me when I went out this time. I originally thought I could use it when I was camping in the wild, but I didn't expect to use it here first."
She wanted to say a few more words, but Stella suddenly looked up in the direction of the town's entrance.
"Is it your father and the others who have arrived?"
