Chapter 274 Professor's Invitation
Chapter 274 Professor's Invitation
As the great hero, Bajirisk, of course Gloria had to take a look at him before school started.
"Thank you so much, Miss Slytherin. If it weren't for Basilius, I would have been captured and tortured by now."
Ollivander knew very well that if he was captured by Death Eaters, even if he didn't die immediately, his fate would definitely not be good.
"Be careful next time," Gloria said as she fed Bajirisk a magic gem, and the little snake wrapped around her finger.
"Of course. Dumbledore has already discussed this with me. He believes that Fosco's capture is probably related to his knowledge of the ancient history of magic."
Gloria thought about it and realized that the Three Deathly Hallows had a long history, so they really needed someone like this. Knowing some of the information would facilitate the subsequent search.
Draco said, "Fusco is awake now. Seeing as the ice cream shop isn't open, he might be preparing to close it."
"I don't know about that." Ollivander said, "I plan to live in the store all the time and won't go out casually. The Ministry of Magic gave me a portkey so that I can leave quickly at any time."
It was enough to experience this kind of thing once. As for closing the store, he had never considered it. He had to keep this ancestral store no matter what.
"I hope they won't come again." Gloria scratched the little snake's head. "We'll leave first. If you have any questions, you can write to the school."
Ollivander nodded, then remembered something and asked, "By the way, after Badgillisk captured the Death Eaters, he ate a few extra magic gems. Is that okay?"
"It's okay. He will replenish any losses."
After saying goodbye, the two walked out of the wand shop and went to Madam Malkin's shop to pick up school uniforms.
"Summer vacation will end in a week." Draco said, "Once we go to school, we can see each other every day."
As the crowd was crowded, Gloria simply hugged his thin waist.
·
The days passed quickly, and Gloria packed her bags to go to King's Cross Station.
Grindelwald is about to leave Britain and head to France as his first stop.
The Hogwarts Express, steam from the train filling the platform.
Gloria and Draco came to the platform together. Lucius was seeing them off today and had to go back to the Ministry of Magic after that. For safety reasons, Narcissa stayed in the manor.
Lucius said to Draco: "The two-way mirror often cannot reply in time, remember to write often."
"I will, father." Draco looked like a qualified heir to the family. "Tell mother I love her."
"We love you and Gloria, too." Lucius looked at the two children in front of him, feeling uncontrollably proud. "Go, the train is about to leave."
The two got into the car and waved goodbye to Lucius from the window.
When I was walking towards the prefect's box, I met Qiu Zhang.
"Gloria," she greeted with a smile.
"Qiu, how was your summer vacation?"
Qiu Zhang smiled sweetly, "Of course, I spent some time on vacation with Cedric, and now he is interning in the Auror Office of the Ministry of Magic."
Gloria said, "Very good, then we will go first."
Qiu Zhang waved goodbye and left with his friends.
After walking a few steps, Gloria saw Qiu Zhang's former friend Aikmo. Because of her betrayal last year, the Ravenclaw students ignored her.
After putting their belongings in the prefect's box, Gloria and Draco went about their duties as normal.
After finishing their duty, they snuggled together to read books and quietly spent the time on the train.
After an unknown amount of time, someone knocked on the door of the box. When I looked up, I saw it was Bardock, who was already in his third year.
Draco opened the door. "What's wrong?"
Bardock held out two invitations, "Professor Slughorn asked me to give these to you."
Gloria took one of them and opened the parchment tied with a purple ribbon, which invited them to have lunch in Box C.
"Thank you, please go back first."
Bardock smiled and turned away.
"Lunch?" Draco pinched the parchment.
Gloria said, "Want to invite us to join the Slug Club."
"Slug?" Draco frowned. "What a weird name."
"It's taken from the first half of Slughorn, which happens to be Slug." Gloria said, "The club aims to attract students with outstanding abilities or prominent family backgrounds as its own connections. He did this before he retired, and lived a decent life relying on these student connections."
She remembered all the introductions Slughorn had given Harry that night.
"Want to go?" Draco asked.
"Go ahead." She folded the parchment and put it aside. "It would be nice to get to know some people through this professor in the future. It's never a bad thing to have one more friend."
The two went to Box C together.
"Gloria!" Slughorn said excitedly, "Draco, you are all here. I was worried that you might not be able to come because of your prefect duties."
Gloria couldn't tell for a moment whether he was really that worried or if he had prepared a reason in advance for them not to come.
Draco knew Gloria wasn't too happy dealing with such pleasantries, so he held out his hand to Slughorn, "Lori and I are delighted to receive the invitation."
Gloria saw Zabini, who smiled when he saw her and patted the seat next to him.
After saying hello, Draco came and sat down next to Gloria.
I also saw Ginny and a few unfamiliar faces here.
Since he didn't change into school uniform, it's unclear which college he was from.
Soon Harry and Neville appeared, and Slughorn quickly asked them to sit down.
Draco leaned close to Gloria's ear and said, "He even invited Longbottom."
Gloria whispered back to him, "Neville's parents are both excellent wizards, this is worth him exploring."
Slughorn's eyes sparkled as he looked at them as if they were treasures.
The professor did not hide his discrimination, and when he learned that Max Belby had a mediocre relationship with his uncle, who invented the wolfsbane potion, Slughorn quickly ended his conversation with him.
Then he turned around and started chatting with McLaggen.
Gloria and Draco looked at each other, and Draco couldn't help but continue whispering to her, "His attitude is very obvious."
"So it's a lunch, not a direct invitation to join the club," Gloria said. "We're going to get to know people first and see who is eligible to join the club."
Soon the conversation passed through Zabini, Ginny and Neville.
By the time Harry got to Slughorn's side, he was in noticeably higher spirits than before.
Harry felt uneasy and glanced at Ginny, then at Gloria.
Slughorn talked endlessly about Harry, from his mother Lily to the Battle of the Department of Mysteries.
"The reports about you are so exciting, especially about the prophecy ball..."
"No." Harry denied immediately, "That's just made-up news."
Slughorn was stunned for a moment, and Neville blushed before speaking, "That's right, there is no prophecy ball."
Ginny then explained, "Neville and I were there, and we didn't see the so-called prophecy ball. We were just dealing with those Death Eaters."
Slughorn simply looked at Gloria and Draco, "Is that so?"
Gloria nodded, "Yes."
The professor understood and did not continue the topic, but focused the conversation on her and Draco.
