Chapter 311 Escape (2)
Chapter 311 Escape (2)
At the same time, Lamia also sat up. She stared at Moody, ready to attack him, but Moody did not move.
It seems that Moody doesn't want to be exposed in front of everyone. Yes, it is impossible for him to escape from so many professors.
Lamia lay back down and listened as Cornelius Fudge kept asking Harry for details about Voldemort, but he kept questioning him as if he didn't believe Harry at all.
"You mean, you two underage wizard students returned safely from under the noses of many Death Eaters and Voldemort?" Cornelius Fudge looked at Harry suspiciously, trying to use his eyes to make Harry admit that he was lying.
"Yes, sir!" Harry was anxious. They should make preparations immediately and announce it to the entire wizarding world instead of questioning him here.
"Everyone present, do you believe me, Mr. Harry Potter? I have to state in advance that the Triwizard Tournament has basic rules. You won't get extra points just for telling a lie. The last time was just an exception.
Since you are already in the hospital wing, please ask Madam Pomfrey to take another look at your head to see if you are hallucinating." Cornelius Fudge said disdainfully.
He now saw Harry as a bad student who exaggerated to get higher grades.
"I'm not lying. Cedric and Lamia can testify for me. We saw it with our own eyes!" Harry was anxious and looked at Lamia.
"Yes, gentlemen, what Harry said is true, Voldemort has really returned." said Lamia.
"Liar! A bunch of dishonest kids! I'll write to your parents!" Cornelius Fudge shouted, his spit spraying everywhere, and Lamia covered her head with the quilt.
He didn't believe it in his heart, and no matter what they said, it would be regarded as a lie.
Cedric was in another room, and came back again after Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall had asked questions. Dumbledore whispered a few words into Cornelius Fudge's ear, and he glared at Dumbledore angrily, then strode away without saying anything.
Not long after, Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall also left. Lamia felt that they were called away by Cornelius Fudge to discuss Voldemort's resurrection.
But Moody stayed, and now there were only three of them in the room.
Harry tried to get up from the bed, but Moody held him down.
"I know who that Death Eater is," he said quietly, his eyes, which usually darted elsewhere, now fixed on Harry.
"Is it Karkaroff?" Harry asked eagerly. "Where is he? Have you caught him? Locked him up?"
"Karkaroff?" Moody said with a strange smile, "Karkaroff escaped tonight because he felt the Dark Mark burning on his arm.
He has betrayed so many of the Dark Lord's loyalists that he dare not go to them, but I doubt he will go far; the Dark Lord has ways of tracking his enemies."
"Karkaroff's not here? He ran away? So—he didn't put my name in the Goblet of Fire?"
"No," said Moody slowly, "it wasn't him. I did it."
Lamia poked her head out from under the quilt, and Moody actually told Harry his identity in person.
Harry heard it, his eyes widened, he couldn't believe what he heard.
"No," he said, "you didn't... you couldn't have..."
"It was indeed me," said Moody, and his magical eyes turned back to stare at the door, and Harry knew he was checking to see if anyone was outside.
Meanwhile, Moody drew his wand and pointed it at Harry.
"So he's forgiven them, has he? Forgives those Death Eaters who are still at large, who escaped Azkaban?"
"What?" said Harry.
He looked at the wand in Moody's hand. This was a bad joke, it had to be.
Lamia didn't think so. Moody wanted to kill Harry and herself as well. Since Moody dared to admit it in front of them, it meant that he had already regarded them as dead.
"I ask you," said Moody calmly, "has he forgiven those scum who never sought him out? Those traitors, the cowards who wouldn't even go to Azkaban for him?
Those disloyal, lowly creatures who had the nerve to wear masks and cause trouble at the Quidditch World Cup, only to flee after I launched the Dark Mark."
"You fired it, what are you talking about?" Harry shrank back, frightened by Moody's look.
"I told you, Harry, I told you. If there's one thing I hate more than anything, it's the idea of a Death Eater being at large.
They betrayed my Master when he needed them most. I want him to punish them. I want him to torture them. Tell me he tortured them, Harry..."
Moody's face suddenly broke into a nervous smile. "Tell me, he told them that I was the only one who had remained loyal and was willing to risk everything to help him get what he wanted most - you!"
"You didn't, no…it couldn't be you."
"That's him, get out of the way, Harry!"
