Chapter 291 Project 3 (2)
Chapter 291 Project 3 (2)
Just as Lamia was about to go back, suddenly, some strange noises came from the bushes behind Krum. They instinctively looked back. Harry was very experienced in this kind of thing, and he pulled Krum aside before he could react.
"What's going on?" Lamia asked. She looked towards the grass where the noise came from. It was dark here and she couldn't see anything.
Harry shook his head and stared at the place where the movement had just occurred. He had his wand in his hand, ready to attack at any time.
At this moment, a man stumbled out from behind the oak tree, and his smell preceded his figure. Lamia had never encountered such a smell.
She looked over carefully. It was Crouch.
He looked like he had been wandering outside for many days. His robe was torn in half, his beard was unshaven, his face was pale, and his whole body was dirty. There was even dirt hidden in the seams of his hair.
This appearance was completely different from the Crouch Lamia remembered before, but while his appearance was certainly strange, the most bizarre thing was his behavior.
Crouch seemed to be talking to someone, but this person was probably only visible to himself. He was gesturing with his hands while speaking.
All of this made him look nothing like the superior Mr. Crouch, but rather like a homeless man begging on the street.
No normal person would talk endlessly into the air unless he is mentally ill.
Then, Lamia noticed the sound coming out of Crouch's mouth; he was serious.
"Wetherby, after this incident, please write to Madame Maxime. Karkaroff has increased the number of students in his own house, so she will also need to increase the number, probably to twelve. Please ask her to be prepared."
"Mr. Crouch?" Harry said cautiously, moving closer.
"Tell Dumbledore again that Karkaroff and Maxim have each increased their numbers to twelve. He must know this. You must tell Dumbledore, you must, okay, okay, Weatherby..."
Mr. Crouch's eyes widened and bulged out. He just stood there, staring at the tree and gesturing constantly, persisting in this action even if he got no response.
"Mr. Crouch?" Harry shouted, "Are you okay?"
Lamia also walked over. She was sure that Crouch was not a threat, or that his consciousness was confused.
Crouch's dark eyes rolled upwards, and Harry turned to look at Krum, and they both looked down at Crouch in panic.
"What's the matter with him?" said Krum.
"I don't know," Harry whispered. "Look, you'd better go get some help..."
"Dumbledore!" gasped Mr. Crouch. He rushed towards Harry and seized his sleeve tightly. "Dumbledore, go find Dumbledore. Something terrible has happened. Something terrible has happened. I have to find Dumbledore!"
"Yes, Mr. Crouch," said Harry, "but I can't do that until you're up. I'll go find Dumbledore for you right away."
"I did... a... stupid thing..." Crouch gasped. He looked completely crazy, his eyeballs were about to pop out of his sockets, and his chin was covered with turbid saliva, and even a few drops fell on Harry's robes.
"Dumbledore must be told..."
Mr. Crouch's eyes rolled back and he glared at Harry with his terrifying face.
"Who... are you?" he whispered.
"I'm a student at Hogwarts School," said Harry, turning his head to look at Krum, hoping he could come over to help, but Krum had retreated in front of Lamia at some point, blocking her behind him, leaving Harry alone to face the mad Crouch.
"You're not...his?" Crouch asked softly, closing his mouth and finally stopping his saliva from dripping onto Harry.
"No," said Harry.
"Are you Dumbledore's man?"
"I think so," said Harry.
Crouch pulled him closer.
Harry tried to pry free of Crouch's grip on his robes, but his grip was too tight and he couldn't break free.
"Go tell Dumbledore and ask him to pay attention..."
"If you let me go, I'll go find Dumbledore," said Harry. "Let me go, Mr. Crouch, and I'll go find him..."
"Thank you, Weatherby. When that's over, make me a cup of tea. I need a break. I'm going to a concert with my wife and son."
Crouch's consciousness was confused again, and he continued to talk to himself at the tree, as if he had never noticed Harry.
Harry didn't react at all. He looked back at Lamia and found that they were all as shocked as he was. Mr. Crouch usually made such a deep impression on people. Who would have known that he would become like this now?
"I'll stay here and hold him steady," Harry said to Krum. "You go get Dumbledore, the sooner the better!"
"He's really crazy." Krum said hesitantly. He had not yet fully recovered from what had just happened. He looked down at Crouch, who was still talking to himself, as if he was sure that the person in front of him was Percy.
"Go!" shouted Harry, moving away from Mr. Crouch.
"Be careful, Harry!" Lamia warned hurriedly. She noticed that Crouch was attracted by Harry's voice and was turning his head to stare at him, as if ready to pounce at any time.
Crouch was very strong and seemed to sense that Harry was about to leave. He grabbed his robe and pressed Harry down.
"Don't leave me, son. It's my fault... Go find Dumbledore. It's all my fault. It's my son. Go!... The Dark Lord is powerful... Harry Potter is dangerous... Girl, girl..."
Crouch had no idea who was in front of him. He thought Harry was his son, and then he seemed to have regained consciousness temporarily.
"If you let me go, I'll go find Dumbledore, Mr. Crouch!" said Harry. He turned to look at Krum angrily. "Now, go!"
Krum looked terrified. "How about... you go? How would I know where Dumbledore's office is?"
"Lamia knows you have to hurry, I can't hold on for long," Harry said.
Krum was about to turn around to look for Lamia, but found that she had left at some point.
"Is Lamia gone yet?" Krum asked.
"I don't know, come and help me, my left knee seems to be broken!"
……
At this time, Lamia had already walked into Hogwarts Castle. She had been ready to leave when Crouch mentioned Dumbledore, but it was not too late now.
"Iced lemonade." Lamia said towards the stairs in front of her.
This was the password to the secret staircase leading to Dumbledore's office. This was what Harry had told her before, but the password had obviously changed. There was no movement on the stairs, and the silence around made Lamia a little anxious.
"Open the door!" Lamia said.
But there was never anything at Hogwarts that would open just by shouting at it.
Lamia was ready to force the door open, but at this moment, Snape's voice came from behind her.
