Chapter 46 Not wanting to share her stepmother with others
Chapter 46 Not wanting to share her stepmother with others
Upon hearing this, Fu Siyue fell silent.
When the moment finally came, he proved to be just as selfish and domineering as Wei Xifeng.
He had just reunited with his stepmother and had no desire to share her with more people; he hoped that no one else would ever know that his stepmother had returned.
After all, Wei Xifeng alone was enough to make him uncomfortable. Fu Siyue frowned and stared at Wei Xifeng with a cold expression.
“Stepmother must come and stay with me. You’ve been taking up her space for long enough.”
“I said no, but you’ve gotten used to living here. If you miss me, you can come see me anytime, I won’t stop you.” Wei Xifeng crossed his arms and turned his head to one side.
Fu Siyue's lips twitched, almost laughing at Wei Xifeng's antics. "You think this is fair?"
"Wei Xifeng, if we can't reach an agreement, then I'll notify others instead. How about each person gives one day a week?"
Wei Xifeng didn't think much of it. His expression changed, and he saw Fu Siyue actually take out his phone to edit a message and send it to the group.
Although Wei Xifeng was certain that Fu Siyue wouldn't do anything to harm him and wouldn't possibly inform others, the thought that if others really found out, then it would truly be as Fu Siyue said: each person would only get one day a week made him feel irritable. The rebellious impulse within him began to stir again. He grabbed Fu Siyue's hand and said through gritted teeth with a forced smile, "It's no use telling me here. It depends on whether the teacher is willing."
Fu Siyue calmly turned off his phone screen, his demeanor becoming composed and unhurried again. "As long as you're willing to release them, I'll persuade my stepmother."
Wei Xifeng held back, pressing his tongue against his cheek, but he knew that sharing the spoils with Fu Siyue was already the best outcome for him at the moment.
He can have at least three days a week.
The process of making fried rice with eggs is simple and doesn't take long. Jiang Liwu also fried steak and cut some fruit.
Looking at the food in front of him, Fu Siyue couldn't wait to cut the steak and start eating, one piece after another. Often, before he could even chew the previous piece, the next one was already stuffed into his mouth. He had finally eaten this meal again after twenty years, and it was just like he remembered.
The bittersweet feeling of longing filled his lungs. Fu Siyue tried his best to suppress the emotions surging in his throat, but his eyes still couldn't help but moisten again.
But his mouth didn't taste bitter; this time, it tasted like happiness.
"Stepmother, I miss you so much. Come stay with me for a while," Fu Siyue pleaded, a glimmer of hope in his eyes.
Jiang Liwu hesitated for a moment, but Fu Siyue saw through her concerns at a glance, so he didn't press her further. "You didn't agree immediately because of Xiaofeng's illness, right? Xiaofeng's illness really requires a stepmother more than my headache. When I came, I heard Uncle Wang say that Xiaofeng was sick and hadn't woken up yet, so it's okay." Fu Siyue gave a slightly pale but extremely sensible smile.
He's usually a man of few expressions, so seeing him like this now is truly heartbreaking.
Wei Xifeng was enjoying his meal when he heard Fu Siyue reveal his illness. He was so shocked that the steak he was holding fell out of his mouth, and his understanding of Fu Siyue was completely changed.
Jiang Liwu, however, grasped the key point. Her eyes widened slightly. "Headache? How could that be? Shouldn't your headache be better?"
Jiang Liwu frowned and touched Fu Siyue's head with concern, her eyes showing tension.
Fu Siyue did have headaches when he was a child, but Jiang Liwu remembered that Fu Siyue's headaches had gotten better before she traveled back in time, so she was able to leave with peace of mind.
Fu Siyue truthfully said, "Ever since my stepmother..." Fu Siyue didn't want to mention the word "death" again, especially since his stepmother was alive and well right in front of him. So he paused before continuing, "After that, my headaches relapsed." His long, dark eyelashes trembled slightly.
"Does it hurt?" Jiang Liwu asked, her eyes filled with concern.
Fu Siyue did not answer directly whether it hurt or not, but only said, "I've gotten used to it over the past twenty years."
Jiang Liwu felt a mix of emotions, and her mood became somewhat heavy. "I remember that you would have trouble sleeping whenever you had a headache. So, you haven't had a good night's sleep in all these years?"
Even so, Fu Siyue's body did not break down, thanks to his strong physique and terrifying willpower.
"Over time, I got used to not getting enough rest, and when I couldn't sleep, I would kill time by working," Fu Siyue said, as if it were commonplace.
“Humans are made of flesh and blood, not steel. Even robots need to recharge and rest. With this kind of schedule, you'll get sick even if you're not sick.” Jiang Liwu was worried that Fu Siyue would suddenly die one day if he continued like this, so she immediately said, “Well, it’s already very late, and it’s quite a journey to your place now. It won’t be quick to clean and tidy up your room, so why don’t I go over tomorrow? As for Xiaofeng, his condition has just recovered, so I can observe him tonight. If there are no problems, it means that Xiaofeng’s condition has begun to stabilize. If there are any issues later, Uncle Wang has my phone number and can contact me immediately.”
Upon hearing this, Fu Siyue's deep eyes flashed with excitement, concealing a secret joy. He quickly said, "Then I won't go back tonight. I'll sleep here for the night."
So that was the decision. What could Wei Xifeng say? He tore at a piece of beef the size of his palm with his sharp fangs, ferocious and savage. His wolf-like eyes stared intently at Fu Siyue, treating Fu Siyue as if he were the beef.
It was late at night, the moon was bright and the stars were few, and all was quiet.
After checking that Wei Xifeng was asleep, Jiang Liwu went to Fu Siyue's room.
However, Fu Siyue was already on alert as soon as she pushed the door open.
"Little mom?"
"Can't sleep?" Jiang Liwu adjusted her outer garment and came to Fu Siyue's side.
Fu Siyue lowered his head and hummed in response. Then, as if remembering something, he looked up and his dark, deep eyes lit up. “Stepmother, can you sing for me like you used to?” He said this with a hint of embarrassment, his handsome, cold face tightening and his ear tips turning slightly red.
Jiang Liwu smiled faintly, "Okay."
Fu Siyue immediately lay back down, clutching the blanket with both hands, staring straight at Jiang Liwu like a good boy.
Jiang Liwu hummed a tune softly under the gentle moonlight, and her singing was so beautiful that it seemed to soothe everything.
Fu Siyue thought he would become more and more energized as he listened, because he couldn't bear to miss a single note of the song.
However, his eyelids soon began to grow heavy. He tried to keep his eyes open several times, but his vision became increasingly blurry. Jiang Liwu noticed this and gently patted Fu Siyue's chest through the blanket.
Fu Siyue was completely captivated, closed his eyes and fell asleep, his breathing becoming increasingly steady.
When Jiang Liwu sensed that Fu Siyue was in a deep sleep and wouldn't be disturbed by any external noise, she quietly turned off the heater and left the room.
