Rebirth and Reversal of Fortune

Chapter 90 Mysterious Letter

Chapter 90 Mysterious Letter

It was a gloomy morning, and Su Jinxiu was organizing clues in her study as usual. Suddenly, an inconspicuous bamboo tube flew in through the window and landed on her desk. She cautiously opened the tube and pulled out a yellowed letter.

The handwriting on the letter was bold and unrestrained, yet it exuded an air of mystery: "To know the truth, do not stray from the right path. Behind the shadows lies another world." These few words plunged Su Jinxiu into deep thought.

"What does this mean?" Su Jinxiu frowned, pondering the short yet obscure words.

"Don't stray from the right path?" Is this implying that the previous investigation was misguided? Beyond the shadows, there's more to the story. Could it be that the Shadow Pavilion isn't the source of all the conspiracies, and that an even more powerful force is hidden behind it all?

Su Jinxiu felt confused and uneasy, and she decided to re-examine the clues and evidence she had previously gathered.

She reread the documents and accounts related to the Shadow Pavilion, trying to find details she had overlooked. However, the deeper she delved, the more she felt as if she were in a vast maze, with each clue seemingly pointing in a different direction.

"Who sent this letter? Is it from an enemy or a friend?" Su Jinxiu was filled with questions.

In her search for answers, Su Jinxiu decides to risk meeting someone—a traitor who once served in the Shadow Pavilion. This person is now living in anonymity, hiding in a corner of the capital.

After some twists and turns, Su Jinxiu finally found him.

“I know you’re investigating the Shadow Pavilion. I delivered that letter,” the traitor said.

Su Jinxiu looked at him in surprise: "Why are you helping me?"

The traitor sighed: "Although I once worked for the Shadow Pavilion, they are ruthless and leave no room for compromise. I don't want to be an accomplice to evil anymore."

Su Jinxiu pressed further, "What exactly did the letter mean?"

The traitor lowered his voice and said, "The Shadow Pavilion is just a front. There is a much larger force controlling them, and this force has a close relationship with a certain powerful figure in the imperial court."

Su Jinxiu was startled: "Powerful figures? Who are they?"

The traitor shook his head: "I only know a little bit about it, and I can't be sure. But I can tell you that if their plan succeeds, the entire capital will be thrown into chaos."

After leaving the traitor, Su Jinxiu felt heavy-hearted. If what he said was true, then the crisis facing the Marquis's mansion was more serious than she had imagined.

Upon returning to the Marquis's residence, Su Jinxiu told Xiao Ling about the matter.

After a moment of contemplation, Xiao Ling said, "This matter is of utmost importance; we must be even more careful."

Just then, a maid in the Marquis's mansion suddenly disappeared, causing panic among the residents.

"Could it have been done by the Shadow Pavilion?" Su Jinxiu's heart tightened.

After a search, the maid's body was found in the back garden of the Marquis's mansion, with obvious markings of the Shadow Pavilion on her body.

“They’re threatening us,” Xiao Ling said angrily.

Su Jinxiu's eyes were firm: "No matter how arrogant they are, we must uncover the truth and seek justice for the dead."

However, before they could take any action, another unexpected thing happened.

The imperial court suddenly ordered an investigation into the Marquis's residence, on suspicion of collusion with the Shadow Pavilion.

"This is clearly a frame-up!" Su Jinxiu was furious.

Xiao Ling calmly said, "This must be the work of a powerful force behind the scenes. We need to be prepared to deal with it."

Amidst these numerous crises, will Su Jinxiu and Xiao Ling be able to find evidence, clear the Hou family's name, and uncover the conspiracy behind it all?
