Chapter 36: You absolutely cannot believe what Jundu says.
Chapter 36: You absolutely cannot believe what Jundu says.
Conan and the others finally realized that Akira Kawabe and the caretaker were not there, and belatedly rushed out.
Bai Yexiu pretended to chase after them with them, but then quickly turned back and threw the backpack from the wooden house into the tree hole.
After finishing his business, Bai Yexiu easily caught up with Conan and his group, who had already run quite a distance, with his quick and agile movements. No one even noticed that he had actually turned back.
When they brought Kawabe Akira back, his eyes anxiously scanned every part of the cabin, as if he were looking for something.
"Did you lose something?" After saying this, Kogoro Mouri suddenly felt something was wrong; something was indeed missing from the cabin.
"Wait, where's that backpack?" Conan was the first to react, searching every part of the house before concluding that someone had stolen it.
Could there be a third person besides Silver Fox and the robbers?
Conan stared blankly at the empty floorboard where his backpack had been.
Kogoro Mouri cast a suspicious glance at the others.
Then came the guessing game. Every time Kogoro Mouri called out a name, Conan would refute it with a reason. After this process, everyone who came to climb the mountain had been mentioned, but no one was a suspect.
In an instant, this unexpected event cast a chill down the spines of Conan and the others.
Who is it?
Conan clenched his fists, gritting his teeth. Only a few of them knew there was money in the backpack, and during the only time they had a chance to hide it, none of them had left the group. Therefore, there was only one possibility—
There is someone they don't know lying in ambush here, but this person can't be Silver Fox.
"Longze, what do you think?" Conan tugged at Bai Yexiu's clothes.
"If you ask me, I think someone is lying in ambush here!" Bai Yexiu offered a false clue with an unreadable expression.
"This is the only possibility." Conan turned his head and continued to ponder deeply.
"Let's search the area around the cabin. Maybe that mysterious person hid the money nearby." Kogoro Mouri miraculously got closer to the truth.
"No, Uncle Mori. The person who hid the money isn't one of us. He could have taken it while we were away. There was no need for him to hide it nearby," Conan interjected.
Bai Yexiu looked at Conan, who had been outmaneuvered, and twitched his finger, wanting to give him a thumbs up—thank you very much for protecting me.
Conan felt like his head was about to explode. Why had a case he thought he'd already figured out suddenly become so complicated?
Although things became more complicated than Bai Yexiu had imagined, Conan still managed to solve the case with his intelligence, except for not finding the mysterious person who took the money.
While a group of people went into the woods to stop the client from killing Silver Fox, Bai Yexiu used the same trick again and happily received another bag of money.
It seems Conan's reasoning skills need improvement!
Bai Yexiu took out his phone and called Gin, asking him to pick someone up at the foot of the mountain.
Despite solving the case, Conan was still unhappy. The mysterious person who took the money seemed to have no connection to it. Furthermore, while they were stopping the client, that same mysterious person also stole Mr. Kawabe's backpack.
"Tsk." Conan regretted not having someone lie in wait there to see the true face of this mysterious person.
The culprit was taken away, and Conan asked Bai Yexiu with a serious expression if he had made any discoveries about the mysterious person.
Bai Yexiu squatted down, rubbed Conan's head, and said softly, "Kudo, as a detective, don't be too bound by your own perceptions."
Ignoring Conan's seemingly confused expression, Bai Yexiu stood up and walked down another path.
Seeing this, Conan asked in confusion, "Brother Longze? Aren't you coming down the mountain with us?"
Upon hearing this, Kogoro Mouri suggested, "Yes, it's faster to go down the mountain this way."
Bai Yexiu smiled and said, "The people who are here to pick me up have already arrived. If I go with you, I'll have to take a detour once I get to the foot of the mountain."
Conan watched Bai Yexiu's retreating figure, pondering the words he had just spoken.
He felt like Longze was reminding him of something...
Conan had this feeling.
Bai Yexiu timed it perfectly, then went back to the tree hollow near the cabin, took the banknotes from the two backpacks, and went down the mountain.
If you go down this road, you'll come to a highway, and Gin's car is parked on that highway.
"Hey, got the stuff. It was so heavy!" Bai Yexiu tossed the two backpacks under the chair, rubbing his arms with a resentful look.
Carrying these two heavy objects along the winding mountain path is truly a physically demanding task.
"Why did it take so long?" Gin showed no concern whatsoever, and didn't even turn around to look at Byakuya.
“There’s nothing I can do,” Bai Yexiu spread his hands, “I’ve been involved in a murder case and have been detained.”
Gin has not commented on this explanation.
The Porsche drove smoothly on the highway, and Bai Yexiu could see a tollbooth in the distance.
I never expected that there would be a police tollbooth on this mountain road that so few people travel.
At this moment, a thought sprouted in Bai Yexiu's mind.
"Someone is following us," Bai Yexiu blurted out abruptly.
Vodka shuddered, instinctively wanting to floor the gas pedal. But Gin was faster, pressing the gun against Vodka's temple while giving Bai Yexiu a meaningful look.
Vodka felt the coolness on his temples and stopped himself from stepping on the gas.
“No one is following us.” Gin lowered his gun, his eyes flashing with a fierce glint as he glared at Bai Yexiu.
"You better behave yourself and stop with your little schemes." Gin pointed his gun at Bai Yeshu, his tone laced with threat.
Bai Yexiu ignored the cold gun barrel on his forehead and said in an innocent tone, "Can't I just give you guys some fun?"
Gin looked at Bai Yexiu's innocent expression and resolutely said two words: "No."
Okay, the prank failed.
Bai Yexiu closed his eyes regretfully. If this had succeeded, he could have watched a chase scene between police cars and a Porsche.
Unfortunately, Gin figured it out first.
The Porsche passed through the tollbooth smoothly without running a red light.
Vodka took a deep breath, a firm belief forming in his mind.
Never trust anything Jun Du says again!
