"Your Highness, tell me, what are you still lacking?"
A busy day, especially for the Heraldry Institute.
The birth of the eldest prince's grandson brought many guests to Platinum Castle.
The heraldsmen were inevitably overwhelmed with tasks in order to receive nobles from all directions.
There were few occasions where Jonas needed to be present, and he deliberately kept Caroline behind.
Therefore, they found an opportunity to be alone.
Your Highness, Your Highness the Princess.
Caroline rarely heard Jonas say this to her, and she was somewhat unsure how she felt about hearing the title.
She didn't know whether she was happy or sad, or panicked by the inability to fully accept it.
But she has to give an answer.
Caroline thought for a moment and replied:
"I need a lot, first and foremost your help, Jonas. Your wisdom is an indispensable aid on my path forward."
Jonas gave Caroline a simple curtsy: "It is my honor, Your Highness. You can always trust me."
“But,” Caroline narrowed her eyes slightly, “why are you helping me? Jonas, you’re clearly not an opportunist. Before I arrived, you chose to stay out of trouble and not get involved with any faction. That should have been the least risky option for you.”
Jonas smiled and said, "Because I would rather serve you than serve anyone else."
"Because of my father?" Caroline retorted.
“That is indeed a very important part of the reason,” Jonas said with a kind smile. “Although you have never met him, his character and the good relationships he has built are a huge legacy for you.”
If that's the case, Caroline thought, I really should thank my father.
Caroline really wanted to have a heart-to-heart talk with her mother and hear what kind of person her father really was.
However, now is not the time.
Jonas continued, "Besides, you are quite likable. You are as strong as your father, and your intelligence is worthy of your surname."
"If you weren't a woman, you would certainly have more supporters. But even so, you are more trustworthy than the old king's sons."
Caroline nodded; she could hear sincerity in Jonas's words.
She then answered the second question: "I also need strength; those who achieve great things can never be empty-handed."
“That’s true,” Jonas nodded. “Ryan and Finn are two powerful warriors with some soldiers under their command, but that’s far from enough.”
Caroline nodded: "I need to gather more support, and I have some personal connections with the city's garrison commander."
"The city guards are not numerous, but if you want to launch a coup, the most important thing is to be skilled and quick to act. After all, distant water cannot quench immediate thirst. If you can win over Lord Alexander, it will indeed be of great benefit to you, but—"
Jonas looked at Caroline, his tone tinged with worry, "But he is, after all, a Coolidge. The Coolidges are an arrogant family. They are indeed opportunists, but they never take risks. Your Highness, gaining their trust will not be easy. Historically, the Coolidges have betrayed their families many times in pursuit of new wealth and honor."
Jonas was absolutely right, and this is something Caroline has to consider.
"I will test him," Caroline replied, "but I won't use it as a trump card."
“But even then, you still won’t have enough power,” Jonas replied.
Caroline nodded; she knew, of course, that she was currently short of troops.
Alternatively, he might need even greater individual strength.
She said, "The divinely bestowed masterpiece contains immense power."
“You’ve told me this twice already,” Jonas said. “I’ve also helped you read the divinely ordained book privately many times, but you haven’t produced anything of any value.”
Caroline couldn't deny it.
Although she was certain that another book was hidden within the divinely bestowed book.
The book, titled "The Emerald Book of Logic," tells Caroline that it contains immense power.
However, Caroline did not know how to obtain its power.
The Emerald Book contains only one sentence: "I am Hermes of the Triple Greatness, for I possess the wisdom of the three parts of the world."
Caroline couldn't grasp the meaning of that sentence.
However, Caroline had already grasped it.
To access the Logic Emerald, one must consume spices. Caroline first heard the Great Scripture speak to her twice: once after eating spiced food, and the other time after drinking spiced wine.
She believes that if she communicates with the Jade Record a few more times, she might be able to learn how to use this power.
Caroline even speculated that Eugene Sinclair gained the entire kingdom because he received the Divine Gift, and this was not entirely unfounded.
Perhaps Eugene has grasped some of the power within the Emerald Record.
If that's the case, since Eugene can use this power to establish a kingdom, why can't Caroline use it to wear the crown?
Although, her desire for the crown wasn't that strong.
Caroline said, "Let me make contact a few more times, Jonas. I know what I'm doing. The Great Scripture is absolutely worth my time and effort."
Upon hearing this, Jonas did not voice any objection:
"Since you are so firm, Your Highness, I will naturally not refute you. I know you are a rational girl, and sometimes you can be childish, but I believe your judgment is still trustworthy."
"Thank you, Jonas," Caroline bowed.
"But, Your Highness, is there anything else you need?"
Upon hearing this, Caroline pondered for a moment.
Then, tilting his head, he said, "The wisdom to formulate a plan, and the power to execute it—besides these two, what else is needed?"
“Of course,” Jonas said, “there is also funding for the support program.”
Oh, right, money!
When she was a child, Caroline would happily sweep the floor for a week for five copper coins of pocket money.
Right now, her wages are enough for her to buy many beautiful dresses.
However, this amount of money is far from enough to accomplish great things.
Caroline had long sensed that even the most prestigious royal family in the kingdom often worried about gold.
Most people in the world are greedy for money, which makes money a very important resource.
Moreover, financial support is needed to prepare any supplies.
Caroline nodded: "Do you have any good suggestions?"
"You are very beautiful," Jonas said. "If you'd like, I'd like to find you a wealthy husband."
Although Caroline was willing to give her body, she was unwilling to lose it so easily.
Jonas continued, "Remember the Chaturdin family I mentioned to you? They're incredibly wealthy in Sun City. He has a son, Lord John of Holy City, whom you've met. He's a handsome man, so his son must be quite dashing too."
Ah, he was indeed a cute little boy; Caroline wasn't unpleasant.
However, Caroline never intended to marry him. Just as Caroline was wondering how to answer, there was a rapid knocking on the door.
Jonas and Caroline exchanged a glance, then Jonas sat down in a chair while Caroline went to open the door.
The door opened, and a soldier, looking flustered and panting, stood behind it.
Is Lord Jonas here?
Jonas, standing behind him, rose and stepped forward:
"What happened?"
"Your Majesty! His Majesty—"
