Chapter 250: The Grim Reaper Looms!
Chapter 250: The Grim Reaper Looms!
The world was experiencing a change but this one couldn’t be halted by anyone or anything.
The dangers that awaited; Dimitris and co had made a big miscalculation and that was assuming that the horde had no way of finding them.
This was something false because the very thing that was affecting Glenn was the mark he had been given.
Glenn was clinging to life but barely, the poison was overwhelming him, there was no fighting it and at this rate, he would soon be pronounced dead.
Rachel knew she had to work as hard as she could to make sure this didn’t happen, Josephine helped out by changing out the towels placed on his forehead.
They couldn’t risk him overdosing so they couldn’t give him any more pills but this was where the herbs that Mathias had cultivated came in handy.
They had just enough to keep him going otherwise his body would have shut down.
This was worrying but it had to do with the attack on his organs that none could perceive.
The fact that they didn’t have a clue about what happened was the problem,
They needed more information and Dimitris was brought into the ward soon after.
The fact that this man could get injured only told them that the cost of getting that medicine wasn’t as low as they initially thought.
For Dimitris to be injured, they must have faced something formidable but the fact that Glenn didn’t display any of these symptoms when they were returning was puzzling.
But his presence was what might save Glenn’s life because, unlike Glenn, Dimitris wasn’t poisoned and was still very much conscious, just in a weakened state.
Dimitris was kept in the same room but he proceeded to tell them about what could be wrong with Glenn, keeping the information to a bare minimum.
He didn’t want to cause a panic but Glenn was showing symptoms of someone that a piece of the meteorite was rejecting.
This was something that had been known, the fragment was poisonous to humans if tampered with too much as Doctor Schneider wasn’t the first to try and use the fragment.
"Damn it!" Rachel cussed the moment she heard the words that came out of Dimitris’ mouth.
She knew that there was nothing they could do if this was the case, Glenn was as good as dead.
Dimitris was surprised that he wasn’t showing the same symptoms considering they faced the same enemies even though his wounds were gotten differently.
Dimtris’ wound had opened up slightly during his retreat, carrying Glenn put a lot of pressure on his body forcing it into that state.
Glenn was breathing heavily but then his body began to convulse aggressively, foam spilling from his mouth.
"Damn it, Glenn! Hang in there! Don’t you dare die on me!" Rachel was damn near sobbing when she said this but would her desperate cries be enough to save him?

Anderson and Clementine were getting along well but the person that was sick took all of them by surprise, breaking their conversation.
Clementine knew she couldn’t reference it without drawing suspicion so she had to let this conversation end.
"I hope she is okay..." Clementine commented but Anderson didn’t look concerned, actually, no one did showing that this was a regular occurrence.
"This happens all the time, keeping us crowded together in a single room does that," Anderson pointed out.
"Then how about we go out for some fresh air? It is getting stuffy in here either way," Clementine blurted out but Anderson’s facial expression changed.
"We can’t go outside," Anderson pointed out.
"Why? It’s not like we’re in prison," Clementine joked.
"You cannot go outside. No, we cannot wander around," Anderson was stern.
"Relax, it’s just for a walk," Clementine laughed as she got up to get her feet and began walking towards the door.
She noticed that everyone’s attention was on her but Clementine made one big discovery.
The kids she saw training didn’t stay here, this meant that they had another compartment where they kept the kids.
Clementine knew that they wouldn’t use force to restrain her because the only reason this set-up worked was due to the people having a false sense of safety.
"Ma’am... We need to ask you to step back," A soldier warned but Clementine kept walking towards the door.
"... Or what? You will shoot me?" Clementine questioned and the whispers began.
Clementine was in the military so she understood how big these little situations were in maintaining order.
"Stand down," An authoritative voice commanded them.
It was the dark-skinned man that had questioned Anderson previously, Anderson wondered what he was doing here.
Clementine could tell with a single look that this person was the real deal.
"I apologize for my men’s rudeness but we don’t know if any of you are infected," The man responded.
Clementine wondered what he was on about because they were all infected, everyone was going to turn if they died because there was no way they hadn’t been exposed to the zombies long enough for the virus to seep into their bodies.
"Infected? We are all infected," Clementine pointed out and everyone gasped upon hearing this but the dark-skinned man simply laughed.
"That is impossible, I’m afraid that we’re still trying to figure out how the virus spreads," The man assured her; he spoke in a very convincing way and Clementine would have believed him if she didn’t have prior knowledge of the situation at hand.
"And this is why we cannot allow you to go outside," The man concluded but Clementine had no plans of backing down.
"What if we want to leave? Are you saying we’re not allowed to leave?" Clementine questioned and this put the man on the defensive but he didn’t look bothered.
"Of course you can and it seems like you wouldn’t listen to anything I say. Take a walk with me," The man commanded and Clementine could tell that this was out of character due to the expression his men had but she didn’t have time to question it.
She looked back at Anderson, flashing a smile.
"You coming?" She questioned but Anderson simply looked away.
Clementine knew that she could potentially be walking into a dangerous situation but she trusted her skills enough to handle herself.
"That fool...!" Anderson thought to himself, aware of the dangers that she was oblivious to.
