Chapter 72: The Man Who Sits On The Throne
Chapter 72: The Man Who Sits On The Throne
Jason was in a lit room but his expression was different, he looked emotionless because these people had humiliated them.
Jason knew that he was going to get them back even though he didn’t know how.
He hated everything that was going on right now but he wasn’t going to let it cloud his mind.
He had to remain calm otherwise things had the potential of getting even worse.
"What do you want?" Jason opened his mouth to speak but all he heard was silence, no one wanted to give him the satisfaction of an answer but it was clear that Bella had now become everyone’s problem.
"I’m not your enemy. We want the same thing and that is for Bella to be brought to justice but it seems that Bella has managed to sneak back in and execute one of the Specters," Alex said bluntly, offering Jason a cup of water.
He must be thirsty considering he hasn’t drank anything for quite some time.
Jason was skeptical because he thought it might be poisoned but Alex pulled out his gun and pointed it right at Jason’s temple.
"If I wanted you dead, I would just blow your brains out. Drink up," Alex said before putting his gun back in its holster.
Jason desperately grabbed the bottle, his entire body aching and Alex had a little pity for Jason because the more he remained here, the clearer it became he couldn’t have had anything to do with Max or John’s death.
This was something that they should have tried since and that was conversing with Jason but the look in the man’s eyes had changed.
"I want you to tell me everything you know about Bella," Alex said and Jason just shook his head in disbelief.
"You have got to be joking, right?" Jason questioned, this was rhetorical but Alex’s face gave his answer.
Jason was injured and bleeding yet this man thought now was the time to ask him such a stupid question.
This poor excuse as treatment did nothing, his wounds were still very much open even though the blood leaking from those wounds had reduced.
"Look at my fucking body!" Jason barked at Alex but Alex wasn’t bothered by any of this.
The fact that Jason was alive until now was a miracle, and he should thank the heavens for that.
"I don’t care about your current state, what I care about is the knowledge you have about Bella. If the information is useful, then I guarantee that you will walk out of here alive..." Alex said, his voice was reassuring, it made Jason want to believe him but Bella had given him trust issues.
He doubted everything and everyone.
"If Bella is here, I will help you kill her," Jason said, offering his full operation.
"It isn’t just Bella..." Alex muttered and Jason raised a brow the moment he heard that.
"What do you mean?" Jason asked and Alex finally dropped the bomb.
"Your friends have come and I believe they have come for you," Alex said and Jason’s eyes lit up the moment he heard this.
He thought that they would abandon him and move to a safer place yet here they were.
"I can offer you a place here but you will have to offer up your friends to show us that you truly wish to join us. Even the Specters would show their appreciation," Alex said sternly.
"Fine, I will do it," Jason said but this was the furthest thing from the truth.
-
The Specters were gathered, all 9 of them and a meeting commenced that could very well decide the outcome of the night.
"Another day and this domain has come under attack. Liam was taken from us and this would no doubt put our authority on display..." A man with an authoritative voice said sternly.
For some reason, the Specter liked to hold their meetings in darkness but this was also a precautionary measure because they didn’t know who was watching.
They knew that not everyone approved of their ruling method and all it took for one to fall was letting their guard down for even a second.
"That is right. If one Specter could fall, this shows the people that we aren’t invincible. Who knows when a revolt will break out? We recruited killers for this very reason but now we need a show of strength," Another man said, agreeing with the first man but a hysterical laughter soon broke out that interrupted the tempo of the conversation.
"What the fuck is this? Are you fuckers worrying about politics right now? I can fucking go out and kill every single one of those shitheads if you think you can’t control them!" A man barked, clearly against what the other two had just said.
Cindy rolled her eyes the moment she heard this, he always did this, undermining the others.
She liked to stay silent in these meetings because she was among the weakest but she was respected by the others. Cindy was liked because she knew how to stay in her lane and also had a knack for getting along with others unless disrespected.
Cindy didn’t care if you were Specter or a random scum, she got along with everyone and sometimes, this made people forget their place.
"Holding a fucking meeting for a man you gave a rank out of pity? Liam wasn’t one of us! You all know this, he was an outsider that happened to be useful to us, we didn’t want to lose him so we made him feel important... But he’s dead and that’s all there is to it..." The man kept throwing a tantrum.
"Thomas..." A voice called out the name of the man that was ranting and the silence that followed was a perfect example of the power this person held.
"Have you all forgotten what this place was like?" The man asked, his chair was different from the rest of them. This was the man that sat on the throne.
