Chapter 133: Harvest
Chapter 133: Harvest
"Come up, I’ll take you home."
Lynn lowered his spear and crouched down, gesturing for Vivian to climb onto his back.
"Huh? Did you find the Great Demon? How can we leave?"
Vivian, without night vision, had limited visibility and couldn’t see the distant Double-headed Blood Demon. Under Lynn’s protection, she couldn’t sense the impending danger, so when Lynn suddenly said he was taking her home, she was still thinking about whom Lynn referred to in his previous statement.
"This garbage can be cleaned up in three seconds. Come on, I’ll take you for a big feast and then we’ll leave."
Not waiting for Vivian’s opinion, Lynn saw her body was more obedient than her mind as she had already climbed onto his back. Without another word, Lynn charged at the distant Double-headed Blood Demon, carrying his wife and wielding his spear.
"It’s the taste of humans! So fragrant!"
"Blood, I want blood. Human blood is strong, I love it..."
"I love it too, give me half!"
"Shut up! He’s coming... "
"We’re strong, let’s kill him!"
"Of course... uh..."
The two heads of the Double-headed Blood Demon simultaneously noticed Lynn charging toward them. On the desolate red land, the figures of the two humans were striking and vivid.
Though drinking the blood of his fellow demons allowed him to grow a second head and upgrade to Great Demon Level, the blood of his demon kin was filthy and black, far from the delicious, fresh, warm blood of the Human Race. Just the scent of fresh flesh filled him with excitement.
However, the two heads of the Double-headed Blood Demon had just started to "communicate" when one head made a choking sound and said no more.
It wasn’t that he didn’t want to speak; Lynn had impaled him through the mouth and head with a spear, ignited the flames, and turned him into a charred mass, making it impossible to speak.
"Damn human! You actually killed me!"
"I will kill you to avenge myself!"
"I..."
With only one head left, the Double-headed Blood Demon screamed incoherently, but within two seconds, his furious arms barely lifted before the last head was ignited by the flames.
From start to finish, the Double-headed Blood Demon never had a chance to attack, and even half of his cries came from his abdominal cavity.
Lynn wanted a quick fight; a mere Level 700 Double-headed Blood Demon had no power to contend with him; instant defeat was its destiny.
The real world isn’t a game, where every boss has a lengthy health bar — even a skilled player must deplete it to kill him.
In reality, unless a monster’s structure is special and its head isn’t a critical point, a direct headshot results only in instant death.
Having consumed all his kin to upgrade to Great Demon Level, the Double-headed Blood Demon was but a common demon species, lacking immortality. Lynn ended his short-lived Great Demon career with just two shots.
"Boom!"
The Headless Blood Demon fell heavily, the collision of flesh with the red earth creating a loud boom. It wasn’t until this moment that Vivian, perched on Lynn’s back, awoke to realize that Lynn had slain the Great Demon here...
For just a second earlier, her level had soared to Level 288, much quicker than when she had slain those High Tier Demon Race.
"Let’s go, there’s no other Demon Race presence here."
Lynn paused for a moment, adapting to the reality of killing a boss without any loot or even Gold Coins, then spoke to the dazed Vivian.
"Huh? Oh, okay."
Vivian responded absent-mindedly and was preparing to climb off Lynn’s back. But Lynn, who had already carried his wife, had no intention of letting her down. After putting away his spear, he supported Vivian’s leg bends, pushing her further up his back.
"The Underground City is too dangerous; it’s best if I carry you out."
Lynn felt the softness on his back and silently praised his young girlfriend for her impressive development, then carried his wife upward.
While descending, they encountered quite a few monsters, but the journey upward saw not a single ghostly shadow.
Lynn knew the Underground City hadn’t been thoroughly cleared, but with the final boss and the last layer’s High Tier Blood Demon dead, the local barracks could easily send a well-organized army to completely clean it out.
The only slight trouble might be the ghost demons on the underground fourth level, but their weaknesses were obvious and fatal — they feared light and fire. An army with a squad of Fire Mages could easily eliminate them.
The Priests in the church and the Light Guards belong directly under the Light Church Court. Otherwise, if they took action, dealing with these ghost demons would be easier than handling Ogres.
Effortlessly traversing the underground, Lynn soon brought Vivian back into the light.
As the two emerged from the dark and filthy environment to the fresh air above, only four hours had passed since they began exploring the Underground City.
The real battles or rather one-sided massacres only lasted less than an hour; most of the time was spent finding their way.
But in a mere four hours, Vivian skyrocketed from a Level 100 novice Warrior to a qualified and standard battle-ready soldier; it was like a dream for her.
This was thanks to the "later version" stage, where the average level of the Demon Race was too high. Even a minor monster’s experience was a great benefit for Vivian at Level 100.
After this Underground City purge, not only did Vivian’s level jump, but even Lynn’s Demon Emperor profession saw a significant rise, reaching Level 630.
Although this is far from his main profession at Level 999, Level 630 is considered mid to upper class within the Celestial Destiny Empire, and even in the Continent Alliance army, he could attain a full regiment-level rank.
"The upgrade is really fast, but these monsters’ levels have risen a lot compared to before, no wonder there is such ample growth energy."
Vivian was just an ordinary noble girl who didn’t usually concern herself with political affairs. But as part of the Continent Alliance, she knew the issue of the Demon Race mutation discovered by sister Catherine and spread throughout the Empire.
She used to remain within Celestial Destiny City, never experiencing it firsthand, only knowing that recently discovered Demon Race monsters had shown level surges.
Not until her personal experience today did she realize the situation was worse than sister Catherine had reported. To think that just one semi-abandoned Underground City could regroup so many high-level monsters was previously unimaginable.
After all, the elite soldiers of the Celestial Destiny Empire averaged below Level 300, but the monsters they faced even excluded the solitary Great Demon at the very bottom, averaged over Level 350.
No one knew when these remnants of defeated monsters quietly surpassed the continent’s soldiers, pressuring them significantly.
