Chapter 1145 - 1134: Favoring Daughters Over Sons
Chapter 1145 - 1134: Favoring Daughters Over Sons
"Anyway, I don’t care, you guys raised me to be like this, so you should be responsible for me. You’ve spoiled me for thirty years, and now you want to kick me out. I won’t agree." Ye Qing, in her current state, looked just like a stubborn rogue, determined not to repay debts or cover living expenses.
"Yes, yes, your father and I were wrong, we shouldn’t have raised you to be like this." Han Hui closed her eyes in disappointment, forcing herself not to shed tears, "But we are not obligated to be responsible for your entire life, nor are we obligated to support your husband and son. If you don’t pay for living expenses, the three of you should move out of this house."
Ye Qing stared at her in shock, unable to believe these words came from the mother who had pampered her since she was young.
"Dad, aren’t you going to say something? Are you just going to let Mom kick me out? I’m your most beloved daughter!" She shouted angrily at Ye Peilin, hoping he would come out and preside over justice.
However, this time Ye Peilin had hardened his heart too, for he finally realized that over those years, he indeed spoiled his daughter excessively, leading her to be selfish, vain, and cold. The family had given her so much love, why hadn’t she ever considered the family?
Moreover, the son-in-law indeed wasn’t good enough. Initially, he thought the son-in-law was talented, but later realized he’d made a mistake, like an eagle pecking his eyes, misjudging the person. Cao Wentao was similarly self-righteous and very shameless, never understanding why he expected his father-in-law to shoulder the debt, living off the family.
The daughter is spoiled by him and his wife; he could slowly teach and raise her, but what about the son-in-law? Don’t use divorce to provoke him; it would be better if they actually got divorced.
So, when facing the daughter’s questioning, Ye Peilin’s attitude hardened: "What your mom said is not wrong. This is also the result of the discussion your mom and I had last night. Your mom and I are getting older and can’t afford to support you two anymore. Either you move out of this house, or you two take on that thirty thousand debt and pay the living expenses monthly."
"Dad!" Ye Qing couldn’t accept these words; her eyes were red as she screamed with pain, not understanding why her parents’ attitude towards her changed so drastically after thirty years when she’d always been the family’s precious Princess.
Indeed, just like Wentao said, parents aren’t always wholeheartedly devoted to loving their children.
"I knew it, I didn’t believe Wentao before when he said it. You called me selfish, but aren’t you the same way? As a child, you thought I was smart and would be successful, so you spoiled me endlessly. Now you find that brother Ye Qiu is doing better, so you despise me? Ready to rely on him? You’re really heartless, aren’t you? Yet see if he’s welcoming you." Ye Qing shouted heedlessly, looking at Ye Peilin and Han Hui as if seeing enemies.
The couple couldn’t believe such words came from their daughter whom they had pampered for decades. Were they selfish? Were they heartless? Who was truly heartless enough to say these words? Was the love over thirty years really so worthless in their daughter’s heart?
"You just believe what your husband says?" Han Hui gritted her teeth, "Fine, if you believe him so much, then go live with him outside. Don’t come back to this house. That thirty thousand, your dad and I won’t pay for you anymore."
"Mother-in-law is mistaken; the money was borrowed by you and father-in-law, what does it have to do with Ye Qing and me?" Cao Wentao shamelessly smiled while dodging the debt, "But since mother-in-law and father-in-law dislike me so much, there’s no point in staying. However, in the future, if father-in-law and mother-in-law have any illness or pain, I, as a useless son-in-law, might not be able to fulfill filial duties."
"Get out, take your stuff and get out of my house." Ye Peilin angrily looked at him, his hand trembled as he pointed outside.
"Xiao Yun, grandpa and grandma don’t welcome you; dad will take you away." Cao Wentao, indifferent, came to hug his son, but the posture wasn’t standard, making Han Hui frightened.
"Be careful, Xiao Yun is uncomfortable like that," she said, holding back her anger.
Yet Cao Wentao didn’t change his posture, coaxing and saying, "Xiao Yun, from now on you’ll follow mom and dad and endure hardships. If we don’t take care of you well, bear with it until you grow up."
Han Hui knew her son-in-law was doing it deliberately, forcing her to concede, forcing them not to kick them out. Watching the child she raised since birth, she was indeed heartbroken, but if she wasn’t ruthless at this moment, future troubles would be more.
She forced herself not to look, reminding herself she was just the child’s grandma, not the direct guardian. The child’s mom and dad must take responsibility.
"Xiao Yun, it seems grandpa and grandma really decided not to keep you; dad will take you away now." Cao Wentao walked out of the house humming lightly with the crying child, ignoring Ye Qing, who was still standing there.
"Your husband left, you should pack and leave too. Tomorrow I’ll do a thorough cleaning; anything you don’t take will be thrown away." Han Hui said expressionlessly.
"Fine, Dad, Mom, you win." Ye Qing said hatefully, then slammed her door with force, soon followed by sounds inside like things being smashed.
Han Hui and her husband sat wearily on the sofa, having fallen out with the daughter they’d pampered since childhood; they were indeed heartbroken. But if not this way, would they let themselves be burdened by their daughter and son-in-law for life? Under her husband’s influence, their daughter’s disposition had shifted, perhaps only after suffering with her husband would she understand who truly cared for her, would she know how to bear the responsibility of an adult.
After the daughter and son-in-law moved out, Han Hui and Ye Peilin both felt the house was empty. Ye Peilin worried about how well his daughter would live after moving out, while Han Hui worried more about her grandson. But they knew, once they took the initiative to contact, all previous efforts would be in vain. They tried their best to endure, not asking, even calling their parents, not letting them provide any support to their daughter and son-in-law.
However, Ye Qing had been pampered not only at their home; both sets of grandparents treated her as a precious gem. Before the calls went out, Ye Qing already complained to them about the couple’s heartlessness, making both sets of grandparents eager to hand over all their savings.
The outcome was predictable. Han Hui’s sister-in-law and Ye Peilin’s sister-in-law both erupted in anger, even making harsh remarks. Since the grandparents loved Ye Qing so much, perhaps Ye Qing should serve them and provide for them in their old age.
Ye Qing, for money, even disregarded all dignity, declared that caring for the elderly is the children’s duty, not the grandchildren’s, asserting that if uncles and aunties don’t support, it’s unfilial.
These words once spoken, shocked the hearts of all four grandparents.
