Chapter 148 Guidance
Grief should not be postponed.
People always have ways to quickly control their emotions.
However, many more ways to get out of this situation are due to external factors.
While Chen Feng was recuperating with a mind that couldn't muster any interest in anything, Lu Tianzhang somehow became the damn factor. Who the hell knew that he was thinking of sending someone out with a slipper?
"Isn't I on vacation?" Chen Feng's puzzled expression seemed to say, "Don't bother me."
Lu Tianzhang sighed with regret: "I never expected you to have such a genuine side."
"Damn it." Chen Feng chuckled and immediately said, "You probably still don't understand. When I get really into a temper, I can beat someone up right now."
Fortunately, Lu Tianzhang wasn't followed by those sycophants, otherwise things would have gotten out of hand by now.
Lu Tianzhang is, after all, a former president. Does he even care about his reputation?
To everyone's surprise, Lu Tianzhang remained completely calm: "I fully understand how you feel, but unfortunately I cannot fulfill your wish."
Chen Feng sneered, but he had no desire to argue with him.
Lu Tianzhang said to him, "I can give you the answer to the matter you asked me to do."
Chen Feng stared at him.
“Yan Beifeng did indeed die in the ancient martial arts world. He had marks on his body left by you, as well as bullets from firearms. However, the real cause of death was poisoning,” Lu Tianzhang said.
This was what Chen Feng asked him to investigate when he received the call.
"So although I didn't kill him, it is indeed related to me." Chen Feng sighed and smiled bitterly.
"However, there is good news." Lu Tianzhang smiled slightly, "The one who spread this information is a lay Shaolin monk."
"Those bald monks!" Chen Feng gritted his teeth, forcing out these four words from his throat before asking, "Wouldn't you say we've run into a trap?"
Lu Tianzhang smiled but didn't continue the conversation. He suddenly said, "Seriously, Chen Feng, I've realized you don't need to get involved in so many things. Wasn't your original goal to obtain the information about the massacre of the Chen family in Jiangnan?"
"Ha. Is it wrong to get serious while playing?"
Chen Feng sneered.
"Because of Yan Luo?" Lu Tianzhang asked.
After a pause, he added meaningfully, "Yan Luo has decided to withdraw from the Martial Arts Association. At this point, she should already be walking on the red carpet to become the new head of the Yan family."
Chen Feng's eyes darkened slightly.
"It seems not." Lu Tianzhang gave him a regretful look, his face full of the cruel expression one would expect from an educator, as if he were telling him a harsh truth.
"Is it because of Zhang Jingyi?" Lu Tianzhang asked thoughtfully. "You only met Zhang Jingyi a few times, yet you're still so hung up on her death."
Chen Feng moved his fingers and said seriously, "If you want to say something, don't keep me in suspense."
"Is it still because of He Fei's child?" Lu Tianzhang looked at him regretfully.
Chen Feng slammed his fist on the coffee table, his spiritual energy spreading out, carrying with it the rage in his heart.
Everything in the room was thrown about; things that should fall over toppled, and documents on Lu Tianzhang's desk flew everywhere before scattering all over the floor.
A mess.
The only one who remained unharmed inside was Lu Tianzhang.
"It doesn't seem so." Lu Tianzhang smiled indifferently.
Chen Feng glared at him: "What exactly are you trying to say?"
Pointing out someone's wounds is not necessarily a good thing.
Lu Tianzhang casually crossed his legs, his face resembling that of an old fox.
"I'm just here to tell you on behalf of others that your anger stems from your own powerlessness."
He spoke softly, yet incisively.
Chen Feng froze.
The old man who told him to roll down the mountain said, "Your life has been too smooth."
So this is what it feels like to be powerless.
So this is what true helplessness is!
So this is what weakness is!
There are always higher heavens and more powerful people out there. The smooth journey was only because the enemies I encountered were all too weak.
Chen Feng's expression changed.
Despite the unrestrained smile on his face, his eyes shifted for a moment, becoming so serious that they seemed almost burning as he stared at someone: "Yes, I am powerless, and then what?"
"Then you still want to deal with the lay Shaolin?" Lu Tianzhang asked.
"Correct."
“You are no match for me,” Lu Tianzhang said bluntly.
"Now." Chen Feng looked him straight in the eye, speaking each word with absolute certainty.
Lu Tianzhang looked at him like he was looking at a calf that was not afraid of a tiger.
He politely pushed up his glasses and said, "From the beginning, I thought you were a promising talent, exceptionally gifted. Unfortunately, your personality is also a factor; you're too outspoken. Right now, those monks are eyeing you, but sooner or later, you'll be targeted by those old fogies in the ancient martial arts world."
"Let them target us, it won't hurt us." Chen Feng laughed nonchalantly, his arrogant expression revealing the air of an old friend of Lu Tianzhang. "The old man said that as long as we trample all those who provoke us into the ground, the road will be smooth."
After Chen Feng finished speaking, he got up and walked away. After taking a couple of steps, he suddenly stopped, turned his head and chuckled, and said to Lu Tianzhang, "Enough of this nonsense. You've asked me so many questions that you've revealed all my secrets. Of course, since you know that old man, please give him my regards."
Lu Tianzhang glanced out the window, looked at Chen Feng with satisfaction, and asked, "Aren't you going to see him?"
Chen Feng paused for a moment before answering his question seriously: "No need. Every time I see him, I can't help but reach out and put him back in the coffin, for his own good and for mine."
Lu Tianzhang: ...
No sooner had Chen Feng left than a third person silently appeared in the room.
Lu Tianzhang noticed the person without even turning his head.
He seemed relieved and said, "You chased your apprentice away, but he ended up coming here to me?"
"Stop talking nonsense. It's not like you didn't trick people into joining your lousy association."
The figure was an old man who looked disheveled, dressed in tattered clothes and covered in dust.
Seeing his dignified appearance, Lu Tianzhang suddenly understood Chen Feng's meaning and couldn't help but say, "Actually, I also want to put you back."
The old man looked completely bewildered, but he wasn't stupid. He knew the old man was up to no good, so he said, "What do you know? I'm just being discreet. You little brat, how dare you laugh at your grandpa!"
Lu Tianzhang: His mouth... it's fucking nasty, just like his apprentice's!
"I asked you to tell him your identity and you're going to have a damn chat about life with him?" The old man scratched his ear again, looking as annoyed as a white-haired monkey. "The situation in the ancient martial arts world is really different this time. That woman can actually come out. Those guys are probably plotting something again. I have to go back and investigate."
"Ha. You've kept your identity hidden for twenty years without daring to reveal it, and you want me to do it for you?" Lu Tianzhang scoffed disdainfully. "Why don't you let him investigate it himself? Wouldn't that be more in line with your teachings?"
The old man listened, sighed, and slunk away, saying he was leaving. However, as he was leaving, he couldn't help but yell again.
"Meet my ass! This kid doesn't even want to see his master anymore!"
